I have Oppo 205 and it can't replace Q10 pro.
well, don't you want to trade 205 for my q10 ?
(huh huh... if i had a 205.. i would change my entire audio system to match the sound quality!)
Well Oppo won't beat HiMedai in picture quality (there's a test that proves that it has clipping and banding issues). With CFW (which is inevitable for network share playback and proper format, like .iso support) it costs a way more than any Android Box jet. + You can't have KODI or any other Poster media browser/Library on Oppo at all. And as far as i can remember there's a mayor bug with subtitle handling, special characters displaying improperly in case of some languages (like mine: Hungarian) with CFW.
I would rather go UP on the HTPC route for that money for sure. IMO.
clipping and banding will be there on 203, as in q10 or directly on tv, via internal player. kodi and posters and library ... i'm not a child anymore, i know all my titles and favorites where they are
romanian subtitles work very well, probably hungarian too (must select proper country code page in 203 subtitle settings).
no iso? extract the content into avchd folder, add some subtitles on usb stick. no streaming (and) apps? tv will handle perfectly netflix at 4k with dolby vision.
i tested 203 a lot;
i bought it with intention to return before 14-days grace period expires, because initially i considered that a minor video difference doesn't deserve five-fold price. In this time i asked some of my friends to assist me in these tests - same movie, all default settings on both devices. results was mixed, some preferred darker image on q10, other brighter on 203.
then dolby vision kicked. no more words to say
. "better" became "far better".
to add more kick, i seasoned the experience with some 96/24 flac files, and some 2.82mhz dsd files. the audience remained silent, because neither me or them are audiophiles. but sounds better. suddenly, my old collection of sacd and dvd-a became usable.
long story short, i kept 203, i transformed q10 into a NAS, at least until i'll sell it.
