VC1 files not working

I've got firmware 1.2.6.6 installed and VC1 files don't play although they played on earlier firmwares - is there any workaround?

A clightly cumbersome workaround would be to use a file browser app to locate the vc-1 file and then a different video player app to play the file.

Something like ES File Explorer and MX Player.
