Low volume on 2 channel sources on Q5 Pro
« on: August 30, 2017, 10:18:44 PM »
Hi,

anyone else having an issue when playing back 2 channel sources via the Q5/10 Pro?  So we're talking mainly music, old movies and the occasional cable tv shows.

Volume is very very low whether sent to my amp or direct to the TV, and this is whether via kodi or the himedia player for both music and videos.  Everything works fine on surround sources, and if I send the same, for example, music file that's on the network straight to the amp or tv over wifi it plays fine.

Seems either an issue in android implementation on the Q5/10 or the box hardware...I don't know.  I'm on the latest firmware btw.

So I now stream my music over DLNA to the amp rather than go through the Q5 and well, it's fortunate there's not too much 2 channel video around these days. Still annoying though, and the same files played perfectly with my old WDTV Live Hub.....If it wasn't for the 4K playback I'd actually go back to it I think, never had issues with the subtitles on that either!

See if this help you.
Press volume up from HiMedia IR Remote and change Android volume level from 11 to 15.
For Kodi go to Audio and subtitle settings / Volume amplification and change from 0.0dB to 5.0-10.0dB.

thanks for suggestion...I already have it on 15 and not a global volume problem all works well on surround sources. guess I'll have to just carry on with my workaround, for music at least. strange one though!

Are you using HDMI or optical out?  What are your audio playback settings on?  RAW, Auto or LPCM?
