Disable Wrapper
« on: July 18, 2017, 11:36:39 AM »
I want it gone, for good, forever. I'm sick to death of it. How can I do this?

* How to reinstall wrapper? Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app. Run wrapper app again. Select 'use wrapper player'. Exit wrapper app.

When I disable the wrapper and have Kodi set to 'play next file' it will not stop playing the next file(s) unless I go to the home screen. Also, there is a banner stating 'external player' whenever I try and stop playback.

How can I get rid of it altogether? It's shite.

You haven't uninstalled wrapper according to my previous instructions. You wouldn't get that message if you had. This will disable wrapper in Kodi:

* How to uninstall wrapper? Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app.

If you really wanted to cleanse your life of all things wrapper you could also uninstall the wrapper app itself. The method is the same as with any other app. My Apps - Wrapper - remote menu key - Uninstall.

I did exactly what you suggested and got the banner.

I can't uninstall it because the remote doesn't work properly either. FML

If you did exactly what I suggested you would have disabled the wrapper and not got the banner.

Please explain how the remote doesn't work properly? Uninstalling wrapper app requires the following key presses:

OK (select My Apps) - down x3 - right x5 (find wrapper app) - OK - menu button - down - OK (select uninstall) - right - OK (confirm uninstall).

Which of the OK, menu, down, right buttons doesn't work properly?

Menu button, smart arse

I think the reason it didn't disable properly, despite your disbelief, was because Kodi was running a library update in the background so it ignored the change in setting.

I also have to use the del button instead of the return

Actually you need to restart Kodi (shutdown+start) to have the playercorefactory.xml reloaded and the wrapper disabled. That's why a simple change in the wrapper app doesn't work.

The menu and del button problem is specific to Kodi 17. Unless the menu button was physically faulty it would work as instructed in system menus.

For info here's how to restore old remote button functions in Kodi. From our FAQ:

* Stop Kodi 17 new remote message and disabled back / menu buttons? In Kodi, go Add-ons / My add-ons / Peripheral libraries / Joystick Support / Disable

I have modified the FAQ instructions making it clear that Kodi should be shutdown and restarted when making changes to wrapper settings / playercorefactory.

* How to reinstall wrapper? Shutdown Kodi. Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app. Run wrapper app again. Select 'use wrapper player'. Exit wrapper app. Restart Kodi.
* How to uninstall wrapper? Shutdown Kodi. Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app. Restart Kodi.
