Stucked black screen during playback.

I having a problem with my q10 pro.
During playback for movies, i will experience a sudden black screen and no audio no video. Just blank black screen. I need to go back n play the movie again to start.

Its just annoying, it can happen once or twice for 1 movie.

Im playing movie thru a internal HDD. So what could be the problem? Can it be my HDD?

On and off the device shouldnt stop this black screen. It can happen all of a sudden, 2min in, or 20min in or near the end of the movie, just suddenly.

This issue started only around 2 weeks ago.

This could actually be a number of things. The video can be slightly corrupt or not properly encoded or damaged during 'transport'. It could be that your devices power supply is having trouble providing enough power for the box and the HDD because it might be slightly failing. But it could very well also be the firmware causing problems.

Best way to test this more reliably is to get a video that you know is 100% ok first. To make sure it is not the video. Also, what firmware version are you using and what player do you use to play the video? Kodi with internal player or Kodi with the wrapper enabled. Or some other way you are playing back the video?

im bringing this thread up again to see if anyone facing the same issue?

its starting to annoy me everytime i watch a movie, screen will go black and stuck at least once or twice a movie, i need to go back and replay the movie. and it wouldnt go to where it stopped, it will start over again.

it will not be a specific spot where this happened, its pretty random even for the same video.

or is it a defect unit?

as noted above, more likely HDD or power supply issue.  Is the internal HDD new or an old one recycled? 

If old drive, run a thorough disk check from a PC (you can plug it into a PC using a USB 3.0 cable into the back port and it behaves like an external hard drive.  You may have failing sectors?

Its a very new HDD, 2 mths old. How do i try solving the power supply issue? Trying a new power supply?

Happened to me today for the first time. Movie is stored in the internal Hard drive. The firmware is CFW 2.0.3 recently installed.

Try another 12V power supply if you can. 

I'd also be inclined to fully check the HDD externally even though it is only 2 months old (especially if it is a Seagate drive; use SeaTools and full sector testing).  I had one replaced under warranty RMA and within 2 months, the replacement drive also started failing (in my PC).  An external Seagate drive has just begun showing faults (and failing tests) with only 400 hours use.
 
I have had no playback issues using an internal HGST 4Tb drive in my Q10Pro formatted NTFS.   
If you have a dud HDD, it is best to exchange under warranty now.

I have the same issue with latest custom firmware. But i simply restart the box and the video can after that.

After it happened to me I run a CHKDSK on the HDD with my PC witch did find and corrected problems. I was also experiencing some micro freezes while watching a movie. Both situations didn't happened again after the check the disk.

This started to happen again with my Q10 PRO. It happens very randomly with several movies. Just recently I replaced the hard drive with a larger one (new) so I'm sure it's not a hard drive issue. If it was a problem with the file probably would happen again when I watch the scene for the second time.
Currently I have CFW 2.04 with the new Himedia player app, before I had CFW 2.03.
