Bluetooth Microphone
« on: March 21, 2017, 06:00:58 PM »
I was just wondering if anyone has had any success getting a bluetooth microphone to work with their Q5/Q10 Pro?

I bought a bluetooth speaker recently with a built in microphone and was hoping to use it for voice controlling my music (via Google App) from another room.

It works great using my phone instead of the Q10 Pro but this uses up too much battery - which I wouldn't have to worry about with the Q10!

The speaker itself works fine for media playback and I can open a voice search by holding its "Play" button down for 2secs - at which point Google says it is listening - but then it does not respond to any input from the microphone.

I have all the "bluetooth headset" settings switched on in the Google App.

Can anyone recommend a solution?

At the time of writing, hardware compatibility is generally better with Android 5.1 firmware, so if you absolutely need the Bluetooth mic to work that might be a solution.

Thanks for the reply. Already running 5.1 but have also tried 7 - doesn't work in either.

Would it depend on the model of the microphone? i.e. does one bluetooth mic look any different to android than another?

It will depend on the Bluetooth chipset used.

Unfortunately I don't know of either a HiMedia specific or even general Android compatibility list, so you are reliant on trial and error (unless anyone raeading this knows of one that works).
