Ziggo Go app - how to start/play TV programs
« on: March 02, 2017, 01:19:06 PM »
Hi,
I live in the Netherlands and have a Ziggo TV account. As in one of my rooms, I have no cable connection, I bought the Himedia Q10 Pro to install the Ziggo Go app, so that I can watch TV over IP.
However, though my Himedia is working fine (now on android version 7) and for example plays from my Synology NAS, I can't seem to get the Ziggo Go app to function. Though it does function properly on various other Android devices in my home.

Here is what happens:
When I open the app, I can select TV programs, but in stead of playing them, I am directed to another screen, showing also the previous episodes of the same program. When I try to select the TV program again in this screen, nothing happens.
So I can see what is playing, it is like no player -or so- starts. I had the same issue on Android version 5, hence the upgrade that I did. I'm using the regular remote, that came with the delivery.

Is there anyone who has had similar problems, and preferably found a solution? Any tips or pointers are much appreciated,

Thanks,

I think using a pointing device would be the best solution. Some Android apps are designed for touch screens and require a pointing device.

You can control the mouse pointer with the standard remote by pressing the 'MOUSE' button but it's a slow way of operating.

Any standard mouse will probably work in Q10 Pro but the best solution is an airmouse/keyboard, like the Rii MX3 we sell.

Thanks for the tip, but think it is some prerequisite for the app that I need either to configure or install.
Even when I use my Samsung bluetooth keyboard (with mousepad) this does not help for this app (though operates the Himedia smoothely).
If you are really sure, happy to buy yet another remote, but only if that's the real solution.

Maybe this will clarify the issue at hand:

I've made a quick clip what I am doing using this app, using the standard remote.

I am having the exact same problem with the Ziggo GO app. Also, the RTLXL app will play only an occasional strem but most streams will present a "buffering" animation and will stay that way.

My Sophos A/V app and some other apps report the HiMedia device (I have a Q10 Pro) as Rooted and officially Ziggo does not support rooted devices, nor does RTL. It might be this is what is causing the videos to not be played. It might be that the DRM is preventing us from playing on our rooted devices.

Thing is that apps that can check if you are rooted or not tell me that my Q10 Pro is not rooted and any apps that could try and hide the root state also report the device is not rooted and thus can not hide root and thus nothing changes for me in this status quo.

If anyone has any solution to this issue, that would be great.

The problem however is that both the Ziggo Go app, as the various RTL apps are really horrible pieces of coding. The Ziggo Go app has improved somewhat but the stuff that the publisher of the RTL apps craps out is really a crash site of randy coding.

I have the same problem with the Q5!

The miniX U9 works fine with Ziggo app, so iT must be firmware!
