He does not see hard drive
« on: January 26, 2017, 04:59:31 PM »
I inserted hard disk, I saw it at the beginning, now inexplicably does not see him anymore, I tried to format it to NTFS, I rebooted, I reinserted, but wrong. Also following the instructions I tried to upgrade, but with usb entered into with the firmware, you match the icon of the robot, but t the end I found myself with simply reset box. At the moment is a total disappointment.

If the box boots to Android robot but you don't see a progress bar / the update doesn't happen it means the box hasn't recognised the update.zip file. So there is a problem with the USB stick or the way it's been prepared.

* USB stick for update should be formatted as FAT32 and if using our firmware extract the update.zip file from our firmware archive. No renaming needed.

* Ensure you're using the correct firmware for your installed OS. There are different updates depending on whether you currently have Android 5.1 or Android 7 installed. See our stickied firmware thread for details.

For the HDD problem, format should be GPT/NTFS and ensure the drive is pushed fully into the SATA connector. A common mistake is to not push the HDD fully into the connector. Otherwise, if format is correct and drive is correctly physically installed it should be plug and play, no other setup needed.

Update fact, Android 5.1, I also did the formatting of the hard disk to NTFS Himedia but does not see it, but if I connect the PC to the box with cable is good, so I assume it is not a connection problem. I also noticed that with the ethernet cable is still flashing, it is normal off boxes? It becomes a problem at night to keep the box in the bedroom.

Problem solved, I just made the return to Amazon, with 30 Euros more I buy Nvidia Shield, very disappointed by Himedia, certain products before putting them on sale should test them better.

Hi there

I have almost the same problem since I updated Kodi 16.1 to Kodi 17.
It was a very long update (more than an hour) and the Kodi crashed.

I had reboot the player and launched Kodi 17 (seems OK) but Kodi do not recognize my HDD anymore.
I cannot had any source from there.

It's strange because i can launch my movies from Video/Movie but the cut SDA1 or SDB1 disapeared.

No problem to find the disk from the HiMedia media player.

Do you have any idea why ?

Is it possible to go back to Kodi 16 ?

Thank you

I don't think it's fair to blame HiMedia because 1. You didn't follow firmware update instructions. 2. You couldn't get HDD to work (any correctly formatted and installed GPT/NTFS HDD will work so I suspect this was another instance of not following correct process).

I think your problem is different. The other person couldn't see the HDD at all, you just can't see it in Kodi 17.

The HDD will be located at /mnt/media_rw/

If you navigate to that location in Kodi (root file system then /mnt/media_rw/) can you see the HDD?

If that doesn't work you could try installing this patch, it will create persistent (permanent) mountpoints for the HDD: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1421.0

And yes you can go back to Kodi 16.1. Just download it from the Kodi site and open the apk you download: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/android/arm/kodi-16.1-Jarvis-armeabi-v7a.apk

Nope i canno't find it by the path you gave me.
Strange as i still can find the movies with the movies shortcut.

I'll try your patch or a new installation of Kodi 17 and if it's still the same i'll go back to old kodi  :-\
