4k 24fps problem with a JVC X7000

Hi all,

I've just upgraded my 10 years old JVC HD1 with a new JVC X7000 (the name here in Europe).

I've also upgraded my mediaplayer (an old PopCorn Hour C400) with a new Himedia Q10 PRO also to test some 4k files..

I've the 1.0.8 firmware on Q10 PRO..and i've tried with the internal player and the wrapper too..
I'm using kodi 16.1 version.
 
A week ago i play a 4k movie with the following specifications:

and it works..

Unfortunately i'm not sure about the output settings of the Himedia Q10 Pro.. (1080p 24fps or 4k 24fps)

Yesterday i try to watch again the same movie setting to 4k 24fps the output of HIMEDIA Q10 PRO,
but roughly every  1 minute and 24 seconds the image disappear and it took roughly 10 seconds to come back
(the JVC X7000 is a little slow in catching a signal..).

So it's really impossible to see any 4k films with the Himedia Q10 Pro set to 4k 24fps..

Unfortunatelly i'm not sure if this problem is new or if it was present since the first tests i've made two weeks ago..

If i watch the same movie but setting the output of the HIMEDIA Q10 PRO to 1080p 24 fps it work fine..

If i watch a 24 fps 1080p file setting the output of the Q10 PRO to 24fps 1080p it works perfectly.

If i watch a 24fps 1080p file setting the output of the Q10 PRO to 24fps 4k the problem occur again roughly every 1 minute and 24 seconds...

If i watch a 50fps 4k file it work without problem 

So it seems that the problem is with 4k 24fps output (MediaPlayer) or 4k 24fps (Projector) input..

Any one has encountered this kind of problem..?
And upon your opinion it could be a MediaPlayer problem or a Projector problem...?

Unfortunately i've no other source that can play 4k files to check if the problem is on the Media Player side..
and no other 4k capable projector to test if is the X7000 that has some problem...

Sorry for jumping in and answering a question not addressed to me. 

That's a long cable. Quality looks OK but 10m is a long run. Do you get the same problems using the short cable supplied with Q10 Pro?

Thank you for the time you've dedicated in give to me some hint.

1)  This afternoon i'll try with a shorter cable (the supplied one).
2)  Ok. Now it's clear to me that "Mediaplayer" on home screen is the same player that's called by the wrapper in Kodi.
3)  Yesterday night i'll try using directly the internal player without using Kodi and it works. No problem every 1' 25'' as previous.
      I could watch an entire film 4k 23,976 fps 8 bit with my JVC X7000. Amazing picture quality.

4) So at the end of the film i try to make some other test with other 4k files..and after some test it happen again.
     I noticed a thing that could be the problem...
    When the problem of loosing sync begin the JVC X7000 see every file as it were 10 bit also if it's only 8 bit ...
    I play again a short piece of the film i saw a few moment earlier and pushing the "info" button in the JVC X7000 it states that the file was 10 bit color..
    but i'm sure and "MediaInfo" in my laptop too that the file is 8 bit.
   
    Upon your opinion this could be the reason of the problem...?

I say no!
I have 1080p 10bit 4:4:4 as default connection from Q10pro to X7000.

Test shorter cable.  There is a lot of bullshit going on with cables.
In fact I just had a 12,5m 27gbps cable here wich was CLEARLY incapable of 18gbps.
10m is already a problematic length.  Very problematic in deed.
But I'm talking about 4k 60hz HDR.

I can recommend Ricable.  Hi-END 7,5m.
This cable is capable to transport ANYTHING Q10pro could ever play including any 4K content.


For sync problems it is not important what file it is but how it is played/transported.

I can tell you that I do 't have any problems playing any file in 10bit mode.  Q10pro  does a flawless job upsampling everything.

Same problem here. With prevoius version all was ok at 2160p 24. Tonight I observe the same thing that you mention. Anyway I have changed in advanced option from auto to sdr and the problem seem to disapear. Anyway this is not a fix...Also I don't think is the cable. Same movie , same cables and setup...diferent firmware... What can it be? Futeko you should mention to Himedia that 2160p 24 had issue( black screen form time to time)
I forgot to mention that I have a diferent AVR. Mine is DENON X1200W. So is not a JVC problem.

Same problem here. With previous version all was ok at 2160p 24.

I've the Q10 PRO only since a couple of weeks and i've tested only with the 1.0.8 Firmware..so i've made no test with previous firmware.

Tonight I observe the same thing that you mention. Anyway I have changed in advanced option from auto to sdr and the problem seem to disapear. Anyway this is not a fix...

This evening i'll try to see how it is in mine and if not i'll set "SDR" in the advanced mode (i do not remember if is already in SDR or in AUTO...)

I forgot to mention that I have a diferent AVR. Mine is DENON X1200W. So is not a JVC problem.

In my setup the Q10 PRO is directly connected to the JVC X7000.. so no AVR involved in the video chain..

Yesterday i've made other tests :
- short cable (1,5meters) , long cable (10meters)
 - i've try launching directly the "MediaPlayer" icon (not using Kodi)
- i've set up the output of the Q10 PRO both to 2160 24fps and to 1080p 50fps

As i launched every 4k file the output goes always to 2160 24fps and the issue every 85 seconds was not more present.
So in my setup it seems and i repeat that it seems..that my cable is not involved in the issue.

Then i noticed that pressing the info button now on the JVC X7000 the item "Color Depth BIT" is in gray and the field is empty...
Yesterday it was filled up and inform me if the file were 8 bit or 10 bit... and now no more..

In the evenening i'll made some other tests...trying to seeing the issue and understanding what are the conditions that causing this issue..

I say no!
I have 1080p 10bit 4:4:4 as default connection from Q10pro to X7000.

In my few tests i've never seen the issue when the output of the Q10PRO is set to 1080p only when i set the output to 2160p 24fps.
Have you ever tried to set the output to 2160p 24fps ?

Several....as a matter of fact I have never ever had the issie you have.

Still this is no reason for me not to see this as serious matter.
