I installed the auto-switching addon for Kodi this evening, following the instructions in the README file. The file seems to be installed, the box rebooted and that's all? Do I have to set-up the addon, or is it automatically setted-up?

After installing the patch to make it work with Android 7 (the RUN_ME batch file) you then need to install the Kodi add-on.

Follow the installation instructions in the opening post: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1015.0

The add-on has configuration options where you can control how switching works.

I did this, but I now remember the problem with the frame-rate switch addon. It only works with 1080P. When I play back my TS2 files in 1080P instead of 1080i, I never have the stutters, but with moving pictures, I have a very blurred picture.

I discovered another temporarily solution: for the best picture I have to watch to a 1080i50 picture, but this mode stutters. When I select QuickClean in the main menu of the HiMedia, and after this process I immediately  select Kodi and watch my stream, I have a smooth and very sharp picture for +/- 5 minutes. After this time, the stuttering recommences. Maybe that's a clue for the solution...

It really seems to be a very unknow problem. I've posted this problem many times and neither a solution exists or there is an update coming up for the TS2 stuttering issues.
Do I really am the one and only person who plays back TS2 files in 1080i50 resolution?
If not, I hope to find someone else who does this and who can explain his workaround  :-\

It is a pity that those files don't work well because I've bought that HiMedia box especially for watching the streams of my satellite receiver  ::)

Mr.Futeko,

i want to discuss about video quality for hevc x265 10bits .mkv. (i pick 4nos of movies for the test)

1. i had done stage 1 and 2 = installation fine android 7 fw 2.0.  Video playback quality = pixels "breaking up" on and off
2. i did factory reset, then downgraded android 7 fw 2.0 to android 5.1.1 fw 1.0.8 . Video playback quality = stutter instead of pixels breaking at the same video scenes.
3. i repeat step 1 = problems still the same.

However, when i played those video files (x265 10bits) at my laptop with media player classic+K lite codec, everything is Perfect.

My opinion, i think my Q5Pro need a good codec.  i just google, there is a k-lite codec apk for android. i plan to try this.

How about the rest of you guys?? any similar problem???

In my experience Q5/Q10 Pro play pretty much anything without a problem. I don't get stutter or pixellation, even at 250+mbps.

Can you point me to samples for download that demonstrate the problem?

Ok last weekend i did my own experiments, i found that my Q5pro problems actually started when i upgraded my Firmware to 1.0.8

after i done few RESET as below cases:

Case 1 : Upgraded from android 5.1.1 fw1.0.8 to Nougat 7 fw2.0.0 = results video Pixelation problem, grey screen (random scenes) with video HEVC X265 10bits. For AVC X264 is OK, no issue. AAC 7.1 is working!

Case 2 : Downgraded from Nougat 7 2.0.0 back to 5.1.1 fw1.0.8 = results video stutter problem causes video and audio out of sync(random scenes) with video HEVC X265 10bits. For AVC X264 is OK, no issue. But ACC 7.1 is NOT working.

Case 3: At Android 5.1.1, downgraded FW1.0.8 to FW1.0,5. And then from 1.0.5 upgraded to 1.0.7 = Issues Resolved! No more stutter, pixelation,or grey screen. But cannot play/ get AAC 7.1 sound anymore.

Case 4: At Android 5.1.1, downgraded FW1.0.8 to FW1.0,5. And then from 1.0.5 upgraded to 1.0.7 then upgrade back to 1.0.8= results video stutter problem causes video and audio out of sync(random scenes) with video HEVC X265 10bits. For AVC X264 is OK, no issue. AAC 7.1 not working.

So now, my setup of my Himedia Q5Pro as per Case 3 which i have no more issues on the video quality. Except i cannot get AAC7.1 sound. It will be great if you (Himedia team) can work on this matter and solve the issue in next Firmware update.

And what is your opinion, whether i can skip 1.0.8 in the next FW update? Meaning from fw1.0.7, upgrade to latest version (when its available) by skip 1.0.8??

That is a lot of firmware installing. To update from any 1.0.X firmware to any 2.X firmware you first need to install the Android 7 migration firmware and the the final firmware you want to install.

I'd still like a sample file so I can verify the problems you report. They aren't typical. The widely available HEVC samples all play fine.

Hi everyone, i've upgraded my Q5 Pro to 7.0 Nougat today without a glimp but i have some minor issues i like to discuss.

1. The mayor issue i noticed is that i 'lossed' 4gig of flash memory, no matter what memory check i use, it says 4Gb memory. Anyone else experienced this problem?
2. In ES File explorer my Micro SDHC card is no longer shown on te main page. I have to make a shortcut within the app to external card to reach the files on it. A USB stick is shown after i mount it.
3. Some app's keep crashing especially my Apex Launcher, but that's probably a comp-ability problem with Nougat i guess.

For the rest it seem to work fine, all video files play smoothly. From H264, H265, MKV, 8 bits and 10bits, they all run perfect. I mostly use Kodi or MX player to play video files.

I hope someone can help me out with especially the 1st issue.

Hi, Mr. Ed,

I have exactly the same you describe for first 2 points. 4GB taken by Android etc.. and MicroSD card not shown in ES File explorer. You mentioned something bout creating a shortcut within the app. What do you mean exactly? How one can do that?

thx in advance, Stan

Hi Stan,
I found the location of the external SDcard via ES File Explorer (it was one of the folders in the MNT folder) and made a favorite shortcut in ES File explorer to my external SD card. So now i can reach it easily from the favorite section.

Hey guys, i upgraded a few weeks ago and everything seems to work smoothly, however. It looks like the SPDIF port is not working because i get no audio from it to met receiver.  I see the glass cable light up so the port is working but i get no sound from it. Normally i use the HDMI for video and audio but after the Kodi update to V17 i and with lot's of users have problems with the passthrough  option in Kodi. I read that this possible has something to do with the audio via HDMI and that you may wanna try the SPDIF signal. But no matter what i play, audio or video i get no sound from this port and i tried all the possible options. Last thing is to check if the cable is broken but i think i can exclude that cause it has worked before the upgrade from 5.1 to 7.

Kodi 17 has a problem at the moment on Q5/Q10 Pro where there is no passthrough for multi-channel audio using native player.

The solution is to use Kodi 16.1 or Kodi 17 + HiMedia wrapper.

Do you get sound from SPDIF with HiMedia wrapper (or Media Center app on home screen)?

I know the problem with the passthrough in Kodi 17 but i tried playing a music file with the Himedia player through the SPDIF port and i get no sound on my receiver. I will do some tests with Media Center tonight.

Hi Fuketo, the SPDIF works fine. There was a well hidden option on my receiver were i had to re-route the audio from HDMI to SPDIF and that worked. So no problem with that anymore. The only thing is the passthrough in Kodi 17 but that's not of your concern. With Wrapper it works ok but i don't like the Wrapper i rather have the internal Kodi player, so for now i'll stay witk Kodi Jarvis.

I would recommend not.

First install an Android 7 firmware, then the Android 5.1 downgrade firmware, then Android 5.1 1.1.0.

Long-winded but guaranteed to work. I don't honestly know what would happen if you install Android 5.1 1.1.0 when halfway through Android 7 update (only migration firmware installed).
