I've got question  about this update.

Also i am wondering why this box is sold as 64bit while it is actually running 32bit  (see below)

If you look at our product description for Q5/Q10 Pro you'll see that we don't mention 64bit anywhere. So perhaps next time you should buy from a retailer who understands better what they're selling. 

Saying that, the ARM A53 core is 64bit ARMv8-A capable. The problem being that 64bit Android is not really practical or desirable at present.

From what I see it is the Android Smartphone version once more. With Android Leanback amongst others HDMI-CEC settings/options would have come straight from the OS. The choice for this OS version is a real differentiator with other competing products/brands coming with a substantial list of Pro's and Con's. As I also own a Zidoo X9S using Android Leanback 6.0 (for Linux) I can keep a close track of both approaches myself.

i don't think Zidoo X9S have Android TV, for Android TV need lot of certification hardware and software.

I am pretty sure they are running Android Leanback, just go the Google Playstore with it and you will experience the difference yourself. The Realtek chipset + SDK is approved by Google and all platforms using RTD1295 will use Leanback for sure. My statement may be formulated  slightly incorrect confusing Android Leanback with Android TV. Android Leanback is the underlying OS and Android TV includes an APP package on top of it.

Don't ask me when something may be called Android TV exactly, but there are 2 different Android OS versions one for smartphones and one for media players inclusive TV's. The later version is normally referred to as Android Leanback. Often the total result is referred to as "SmartTV powered by Android" by TV makers, never see "Android Leanback" mentioned there.

Google TV probably  includes also specific APP's and licences not covered by Android Leanback? Google is not really open about all this.

- download update_googleplay.zip
- remane update_googleplay.zip to update.zip
- copy update.zip to USB
-  Insert USB stick into Q10 Pro USB 2.0 port
- Update from Menu (Settings/Upgrade/Local Upgrade)
- The box will auto-reboot when finished.

No it is not only the Launcher. The options under settings are typically different too and Leanback has no Notification Bar interfacing for obvious reasons.  Leanback has implicit HDMI-CEC support etc. It is my practical experience that with many players and TV's based on Leanback only those APP's specifically designed for big screens (no touchscreen expected, wired ethernet instead of Mobile 3G/4G, no GPS expected)  and not those for smartphones are supported and can be installed from the Playstore (=good news and bad news). Many can still be installed by an APK directly but this neither is valid for many.

Zidoo/Realtek seems to have modified multiple things from the standard Leanback OS. The biggest change is that they run Android for Linux sharing the Linux  kernel with OpenWrt. This particular Android OS version does not exist at all for smartphones by my knowledge. In theory it should be feasible to create a KODI version running straight on that Linux kernel too avoiding the need for OpenElec / FreeElec dual boot implementations.

I am not an Android wizard in any way. The Google variants/approach for big screens versus smartphones/tablets remains very obscure for me.

No new SDK yet. This is based on same SDK as the closed beta.

Yes there is! Many are literally screaming for KODI 17 support and that is already reported as working here. I am pretty sure that when KODI 17 becomes stable it will become the default KODI version being bundled.

Other advanced N goodies like PIP and Split Screen will require a matching SDK, but will be very nice when available on huge screens.
