Indeed thus far he was always right. This is very good news provided this is a well regression tested release. The last updates were a bit messy to say it mildly.
Often this is an indication of the total FW code not being nicely modular and over seeable.

Please specifically test copy/move files to SD-Card and HDD using Media Center and via SAMBA/FTP remotely.
Android OS 6 and OS 7 have a more complex security model using the concept of Internal and External storage requiring specific rights and way of calling.
Old/existing APP's typically won't work for writing to External resources anymore, but reading will work normally.

Having a look at the OS changes made I doubt that it will make a serious difference for KODI. But it has better big screen support like PIP and Side-by-Side Windows, improved security features,  HDMI-CEC improvements, Volume Label support etc. So yes enough useful enhancements potentially available also for media players.

Lets see what Himedia does with it and if it is still based on the Android Smartphone version or it moved to Leanback this time as all others did (Android TV).
