Install using the restore button method, as described in the threads for 1.0.8.

You can install this over any other firmware. It will replace the existing firmware.

So, did a few (10-15 min) tests of TV and movie (23.976) content... I'm not seeing much difference over what I last had (1.0.7). But, then again, I barely noticed any microstutters with 1.0.7 anyway. Planning to watch a full 2-hour movie tonight & will report back.

I do like the new launcher.

Ok, did a few tests during the weekend. The test firmware performed very well and there is a noticely improvement in terms of micostutters. Mostly they are gone. Playback of 29,976 content is very smooth.Good work!

Test setup: Samba Linux Server->Network->Himedia Q5 ->Hdmi-> Receiver Pioneer VSX- 924->Hdmi-> Beamer Optoma HD25e

Unfortunately, playback of 3D blueray isos seems to be broken. 1080p24 framepacked video is replayed as 720p60. Therefore the aspect ratio and resolution is wrong.
Audio is asynchron, too. Audio is drifting away and the drift increases during replay.(Audio is always outputed earlier than video).
The audio sync issue was also observed with the official firmware 1.8.0

Normal blueray isos worked as expected.

I will pass the 3D ISO and audio sync feedback onto HiMedia. Thanks.

Glad 23.976 would seem to be improved with this firmware.

Re: 3D ISO, switching to 2D mode & back to 3D appears to fix the 720p resolution issue. Goes back to 1080p after the toggle.

After few tests performed last night I can guess that the 23.976 playback issue has been solved. I will be able to watch an entire movie during the weekend: further analysis is on the way.
Thank you futeko for the opportunity to test this firmware.

D.

Can you explain which 29.970 you tried? I assume this is what you meant and not 29.976. In my case, as before, 1080i/29.970 MPEG2 still stutters, and 1080i/29.970 VC-1 (ex: Eagles' Melbourne content BD) still won't play. VC-1 remains a problem overall as 1080p/23.976 won't play properly either (ex: 'Constantine' BD).

What is 23.970? This is a complicated topic (I could be wrong..) but I thought the issue was conversion from NTSC 24 * 29.97 / 30, which is 23.976fps. I don't think 23.970 material exists.

I'll pass on the information about VC-1, but it's off topic for this thread. The issue here is the single frame skip every 41 seconds on all 23.976 material when output on Q5 in 24Hz mode.

Typo. I've tested 23.976 material (mkv).
Sorry for the confusion.

Agree. I tested with v.1.0.9 firmware more over last 2 days and really like it. I think microstutters are completely gone, and box even seems a little faster (like when navigating/browsing my Kodi movie/TV library of 1,500+ movies and 50+ TV shows). The only issue is 3D ISO's playing in 720p, and having to switch to 2D mode and back to 3D mode to get 1080p. 1080p MKV's on the other hand don't have this issue; they stay at 1080p.

Someone mentioned audio sync issues with v.1.0.8 and v.1.0.9 firmwares, but I'm not seeing this. Any other experiences from the 8 in the group who've tested v1.0.9?

after some test the beta fw  i am very happy  no vidible stutter   ;D ,  for example:
- lawrence of arabia (panorama  movie )
- TimeScapes 2k ( a lot of  long natural scene )
- DTS demo disc 14/15/1718/  ( audio clip )
- some TV show

some times  i have stutter video and audio ( micro pause ) ,but this can be bad rip file or bad endconding.

I have set 5ms to av receiver and it's fix audio sync issues in most of the case.
