New owner requesting help with AirPlay and accessing files on my pc

First and Formost I wish there was some sort of a Manual for this receiver so I could at least have an idea how to get the most out of it.  I wish there was a wiki on it or a guide of some sort to instruct users on getting the most of its features. So my question now is how to set up AirPlay from my I devices to the receiver. Also how to access my files on my laptop.  And isn't there a way to talk to this receiver for certain commands or was that something else I was looking at.

I'm not 100% sure on Airplay. No Apple devices here to test with.

The Q5 doesn't support it out of the box and I don't think that there are apps available that would do what you want. It's an Apple vs Google incompatibility problem, Apple don't want Airplay to be compatible with non Apple devices.

Saying that, if you install Kodi (http://kodi.tv/download/) then go System - Settings - Services - Airplay and turn on 'Allow Kodi to receive Airplay content'. That should work.

Ok thanks. The reason why I thouht airplay would work is because the features listed on the advertisements for this q5 show that AirPlay is one of the features.

Airplay will work, but only through Kodi. We don't advertise the product as supporting Airplay.

I'm sorry.  You are correct. The website himediatech.com has it clearly listed as a feature.  Yours does not though.  I'm sorry about that.
