Multiple problems with Q10 Pro
« on: July 22, 2016, 07:45:33 AM »
1. I have the Q10 connected to my PC using the slave USB. There is an internal 3TB Toshiba drive which Windows sees but the Q10 does not. I have re-formatted using GPT and NTFS whilst the drive was in the Q10.

2. After a factory reset I installed Kodi from the store, which appears to be Jarvis. I installed the wrapper and this is showing in the Kodi directory. I've changed the audio options in Kodi to passthrough and yet I only get vanilla DTS and DD and not HD audio which my receiver is capable of. I am playing files over the LAN. In the Kodi passthrough options there was only "Dolby Digital (AC3) Capable Receiver" and "DTS Capable Receiver".

3. The stop and FW/RW keys do not work in Kodi, I'm using a Harmony ELite. I have to bring up the menu and scan from there. I've installed a Flirc with Kodi profile and that has made no difference.

Any ideas?

1) You should take out the HDD and connect it directly to a (E)SATA port in your Windows PC. Then re-format it. Default settings (GPT + NTFS) should do it.
This results in a slightly different format but which is also compatible with Q10 Pro.

What you report has been observed before.

OK thanks, will try after work. I can see this is going to be a busy Friday night, hopefully not hair pulling all weekend  :o

If you are using the wrapper Kodi audio settings don't make any difference. They are only for Kodi internal player (dvdplayer) and, since audio is 5.1 channel max with kodi internal player, the settings you see are correct.

Are you sure the wrapper is correctly installed? If you navigate to a video file in Kodi and press remote menu button do you get an option called 'play using..'? This gives you the choice of wrapper (default) or DVDplayer.

If the wrapper isn't installed then reinstall it by exiting Kodi then, from Q10 Pro home screen, going My Apps - Wrapper, and setting to wrapper playback.

The other problem that might cause no 7.1 audio is incorrect audio settings. Wrapper / himediaplayer audio settings are controlled by main system audio settings. So go Settings - Playback:

HDMI Output: RAW
HBR Output: RAW7.1

Unfortunately still not getting HD Audio. The wrapper seems to have installed properly.

It says "playercorefactory.xml already exist"

OK, I can get HD audio by using SAMBA instead of UPNP access to files in Kodi. But still the Q10 refuses to see the 3TB internal hard drive despite Windows seeing it.

Any last ideas before I give up?

Did you re-format it as recommended? If not it will never work. Search the forum for the why.

Yes I did. I formatted the drive in three different ways: esata; within Pc, within Q10 connected by slave. Still no joy.

The main reason for buying this was for internal hard drive support so no good for me if I cant get it to work.

Please do the show command fsutil fsinfo ntfsinfo x: as documented in my tutorial. http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=576.0
Never came across a HDD which finally could not be detected.  Seen lot of troubles with some getting them to work though.
You can also use EXT4 (but not with Samba).

If your USB cable is still connected to the USB 3.0 slave port, please disconnect it and see.
What HM FW version?

Your issues:

1.) You cannot use the internal HDD at the same time with Q10 and have it connected via the back USB with your PC.
The USB connection "overrides" the internal SATA and basically turns the Q10 into an external HDD.
Read here:
http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=932.msg7513#msg7513

2.)
When using the wrapper, the KODI audio settings are irrelevant for playback of DTS audio and the likes.
Go to Box settings/Playback and change settings there.
Somr people need HDMI output and HBR output set to Auto, some to RAW. Change settings around, try out files in KODI.
Worked for me.

3.) Map buttons on your remote using the Keymap editor addon in KODI (install via Programm addons).

Thanks guys for suggesting  removing the  cable but it's now boxed up to go back so I can't test. If that is the problem then it's an unworkable solution having it plugged in to copy files and unplugging it for the player to see it., I rip discs three times a week. My WDTV does not work like that although admittedly it is much slower for file transfer. If Himedia can solve that I'll be back.

What version of firmware you have?
Some people confirmed that USB3 Slave detection was fixed with 1.05 FW.
I didn't tried it yet.

I was using 1.05 I think. I tried to update over the air but it was saying my firmware was latest if that confirms it?

As I say it is boxed now so I can't really check.
