Is there a way to dim the front display?

I find the front display a bit bright when operating and I was wondering if there is a way adjusting this brightness without affecting my playback picture settings for video playback.Thanks

A lot of users would like such an option, along with the possibility to disable the annoying seconds-counter.
You can only turn it off completely (Settings -> LCD).
