Faulty Q10 Pro: Buzzing sounds and case gaps!!!
« on: June 25, 2016, 09:56:41 AM »
Hello!

I have received my Q10 Pro from Futeko on June.14. Meanwhile I have just found some very annoying faults on the device.

1. The case isn't well assemcbled, there are clearly visible gaps on the right side of the device, between the two seperate parts of the case and the chassis. See Photos here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l8obj0vhq0eh768/DSCN0059.JPG?dl=0,
https://www.dropbox.com/s/z8211x8xwnx4i18/DSCN0060.JPG?dl=0,
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cn6ig8b9x0mxl9t/DSCN0067.JPG?dl=0,
https://www.dropbox.com/s/q3n851czg9u3w1e/DSCN0068.JPG?dl=0,
https://www.dropbox.com/s/aqn1djtfih8y04r/DSCN0092.JPG?dl=0
And there is also a smaller gap on the right back side of the case. See Video here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ltpeulginhxka86/Q10%20Pro%20Chassis%20gaps.AVI?dl=0
I didn't see anything like this fault on the units I saw on photos around  the internet, or in any videos on YouTube from the Q10 Pro, so I'm pretty sure it's not the way it sould have been assembled correctly... And I have been given a faulty unit...

2. There is some strange crepitation/buzzing sound comming from where the fan is on the back. It's some kind of hight frquency crepitation, and I'm quite sure it's not just the airflow. It's also hearable from half meters away (in a silent room), and closing on with ears to where the fan is, it comes more perceptible. I can't decide if it's the error of the fan or some kind of electrical jarring (whitch presumption makes it more frightnig), but Im also pretty sure, that this sound isn't normal at all... Video with sound here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yiy4fsk0ukmxfjk/Q10%20Pro%20buzzing%20Sound.mp4?dl=0

So in owerall, I'm sad (and angry) that I have to say this (I have waited for this TV Box so long, to spare the money for it), but I will send this device back...

Dude the noise is the fan motor  ::)
This is no high end low noise fan but it is silent enough for its purpouse. You should look out for the Q5pro...which is said to have no fan if you (obviously) are sensitives to that matter.

-Have you listen to the video I have linked? (You need to set the volume up a bit.) Just compare to your own Q10 Pro, ears close to the fan. If your unit isn't bugged as mine, you should hear the difference. That electric-like sizzling  isn't what I would call as the fan motor.

I have a plenty of fans at home inside my computer, other electrical units and also this kind of small sized fans in my 5 year old laptop, but none of them makes noises like this. It would be a huge wantonnes and understatement to point this like you suggest. Even if it's the motor of the fan, it has some truble, and faulty.

The videos quality isn't that great, but I have no other option yet, and In reality one can hear the noise from like 30cm away (which doesen't sounds on the video, due the quality of the mic of my camera, just when I get really close up)...

Still waiting for an official Futeko members response... Thanks!

Surely would have been better handled with a private message first

Problems with individual orders like this are better dealt with by email or private message.

It looks like there's a problem with how the casing has been put together. This could cause the fan to be louder than normal if, as it seems from the photos, the problem is in the fan corner.

We've had zero other customers report any build quality problems so it's not a general problem with Q10 Pro.

We'll pay return postage costs and exchange the unit. Email us for RMA info: mail@futeko.com

So this how my Q10 Pro rattles and sizzles after this time:  Link

All of this coming out from the Box itself. Today came it this loud, earlier was it somewhat bearable. I don't think it's quite normal.
To be more straight, it's definitely not!

Suggestions?

It's the fan or the mechanical hard drive or both.

I have no HDD in the Box, so i suspect the fan (and just hope that it's only the fan, as it's rather seems some electrical sizzling).

If you don't have a hard drive you can safely disconnect the fan from the board because it's not needed. Futeko as also stated that in some post I've read.
