Himedia Q10 on Windows 7 via LAN

Hello everybody.
I've connected the Himedia Q10 to the PC Windows 7 with a USB cable and I can manage the Q10's hard disk from Windows all right.
Can I do the same via LAN, with a Ethernet cable? I want to manage the Q10's hard disk from Windows 7 (not the other way).
Is there a manual to configure it step by step, or can somebody explain it in an easy way, please?

Yes you can..by using the Windows network folders (SMB) from your Windows 10..

When both devices have booted up...the Q10 should show up in the network section of Windows file Explorer...

sorry juanrgisbert I forgot to mention that you need to use your lan cable to be connected to your network router..or by wifi which I assume you already have

Yes, I've got both of them connected to the router, that's right.
But I`m asking about Windows 7.
Is it posible to do it with Windows 7, or only with Windows 10?

Hi, I manage my Q10 internal HDD via Windows 7 without too many problems. Occasionally the Q10 doesn't show in the network section of explorer but usually a reboot of either the Q10 or the PC sorts that out, Windows networking has always had a mind of it's own.

One handy hint that helped me enormously (regarding the disappearing Q10 in explorer) was to change the PC's workgroup to a different name from the other devices on my network. For some reason Windows can throw a wobbly when all devices are in the same workgroup (named 'Workgroup'). When I changed my PC's workgroup name to ***GROUP my connection problems were all but cured.

Changing the workgroup name can be done via My Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Computer Name.

Sorry I did mean windows 7 and is still the same on windows 10 if you get it

you can also ask the windows explorer to map a network drive (with an assigned drive letter) which (so long as you check the option) will open a connection every time to start windows, this then shows up like a drive on your pc and just makes finding the Q10 easier...of course the Q10 needs to be switched on too..

I have the same problem, my Himedia is not visible how "computer" in my windows 7 network. I activate samba, and tree conect unit to windows, but it also don't work me. I put image of the display of my notebook.

Hi, Just thought I'd throw this in as it may cure some visibility problems as Windows networking sometimes has a mind of it's own. 

You may want to try changing the name of the workgroup on the Windows 7 PC to something other than 'WORKGROUP' I found this worked for me and I have been accessing (via windows explorer) my Q10 HDD successfully for months now using Windows 7 with all devices appearing correctly. I also have Homegroups disabled.

To change the workgroup name, in explorer right click Computer then Properties / Advanced System Settings / Computer Name / Change...
