Headache
« on: September 09, 2016, 01:30:16 AM »
Received my Q5 Pro from Futeko (many thanks). However, I am totally confused on one aspect of this unit.

On my OHC with Isengarde 15.2 I was getting DTS-X, ATMOS and every other format using NTS. The Q5 Pro will not allow these formats with NTS. So I have tried to set up SMB to my 5 Synology NAS units. All Synology units are set up correctly for SAMBA, to no avail. I get an error 2 on the Q5 Pro. Whilst pondering this problem I went into the HiMedia Center and lo and behold - ATMOS, DTS-X etc all work but with no actual picture control, i.e. zoom, aspect ration etc.. BTW the PQ is superb.

My question, from an absolute idiots point of view, is can somebody tell me in a way befitting a moron (me) how I can set up SMB step-by-step. As a by, I am a Macintosh person.

My audio/video system comprises a Yamaha 1079 and my 5 NAS units are connected via a switch at the audio/visual end. Direct ethernet switching through the switch.

It would be superb if the wrapper could support full NTS or UpNp.

As for aspect ratio: there is one option you can try: Got to Settings->Playback, and there you cans set the "Maintain Aspect Ratio" to eighter "Full screen" (strech to your TV's) or "Keep ratio" (leaves source aspect as it is).  (However it would be nice to have this feature also in Himedia Player's on-the fly menu, and change it while playback, you have to always set it in the main Setting menu.)

I presume you mean NFS? Try this method for getting NFS shares to work with wrapper: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=813.0

I'm not familiar enough with your specific NAS to be able to give step by step instructions for setting up a Samba share, but it should be fairly straightforward (Samba is the most common network protocol). I suggest finding the model number and downloading the manual.

Thanks for the suggestions. I eventually worked out why SMB would not work on the Q5. I had SMB enabled on my Synology NAS units but I found another box to tick and now I have all of my NAS connected via SMB with full audio and brilliant picture.
