As long it is not used to record any HDCP protected input it should not be illegal. That includes a camcorder.
It surprises me that it is removed from the functionality?

No, it doesn't work. Must be change in 1296 vs 1295 chipset.

In the absence of a public statement on this direct from Zidoo I think it is possible HDMI in may be enabled in future firmware. I just quoted the reply they gave me.
