The question isn't very clear, I know, but it's pretty simple really.

Until today I've put a lot of energy into getting Egreat's domestic Kodi spinoff, Vidon, to work as the media player, playing music files on my computer (server).

I use a Marantz sr7008 receiver, and by changing a couple of settings, I can listen to music without having the television on. All connections are wired.

Unfortunately, the samba system of connecting the media player / Vidon to the music files on the computer is so frustratingly erratic that I decided to try the A10's native system. It worked on Tuesday, and I could create a library of several of my music folders. Yesterday, with absolutely no changes made to the computer or the A10, it didn't work.

So I populated the A10's  music library with file categories on the computer, using the TV image to navigate. Started playing a file, and turned the TV off (standby mode) , and sound disappeared.

Even changing the image on the TV from the A10's track-playing image sent a message to the media player to stop playing the file. In other words, in terms of being an audio media player, the A10's audio player falls far short of Vidon or kodi.

Or is there something I haven't understood? This is important for me since I use the A10 more as a music player than video player.

Should add that I enabled passthrough on the Marantz receiver.. It works for videos streamed via the A10, and for audio streamed via the A10/Vidon, just not audio via the A10 alone.

By the way, attempts to add files to music library today resulted in 'invalid argument'.  Back to the drawing board.

have you tried using the analogue sections on the A11 (you need to change the settings on the A11) going into the marantz amp that way your bypassing the hdmi which also sends a video signal so you need the tv on  to listen to music ,im sure ive tried it but couldn't be bothered to change the settings over every time i wanted to listen to music.

Long time since I looked here, but a late answer in general:
I am using the Music Player always with my TV turned off.  I use the excellent Himedia HiControl APP (acts as a touchscreen clone from the TV) to control Music Player just as when the TV is on. No need to change anything via settings for this. Also works with the new Music Player 2.0
