Hi All,

Having trouble with getting Kodi & Mediacenter to see my NAS storage.

Gear - Q10pro - 2.0.8, kodi - 17.6, NAS - Asustor AS-202TE (all connected via gigabit switch / Cat6 cable).

In the initial setup, I added the network NAS using the media centre and created the shortcut. Worked fine. Then added the NAS files into the Kodi app, again all worked fine. Only after powering off and trying to use it again do I have problems.
(i have tried to install the persistent mountpoint http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=813.0 but this bricked my Q10 and had to reinstall the OS)

When turning on i also sometimes dont automatically connect to my network. To fix this i need to manually disconnect the network cable and reattach)

Main issue
- In media center, i go into the ShortCut section and i get the error message 'Network Error, Please Check Network State"
- in Kodi, i sellect a movie and get the standard message 'click ok when playback has ended' but the movie never starts etc

Current Work arounds
- In Media Centre, if i select 'Device SSCard:C' ->Video i can then sellect my NAS and play the videos that way (do not need to enter password or anything)
- other method that works is going into Apps->Movie Bar. All videos play from there fine.

All my media is on the local network.

Can you please suggest a way to address this so I can use the kodi app

thanks.
(happy to post any screen shots if you need them)

Sounds like a networking error.
Have you given your Q10Pro a fixed IP address?  I find this fixes a lot of network instability issues for devices, including printers.

Check from another PC or device if you can see the Q10Pro under Network?  Make sure you have turned on Samba in Settings on the Q10.
Once you have MediaCenter working, Kodi will also work fine using the standard "wrapper" app that is included.

I have now given the Q10 Pro a fixed ip address and Samba is activated and initially let me use kodi/media centre. However after a restart, i had the same issue with error message 'Network Error, Please Check Network State'

Any other suggestions to get this working?

Thanks

While these errors happen can you still access to the internet (Browser, YouTube) on the Q10 Pro?

Also try to give a fix ip to the NAS as well, if you haven't done that already.

And if you have other devices at home (Windows PC with SMB or some Android with SAMBA) try to make a Share on them as well and see if you can connect to them with the Box. And vice-versa as well, if you can connect from those devices to the Q10 Pro SAMBA share.

Also worth to try to plug out the cable and see if it's any better with the Wi-Fi connection on the Box.  (Just for trouble shooting).

I've also read here that sometimes simply plugging out and after a few mins plugging back in the UTP cable on the Q10 Pro can help on some network issues.

But it's also possible that it might have be a strictly Router or NAS settings/permission etc. related issue...

I seem to have got it working but for how long is another matter!

Tired a heap of things and cant be sure what actually worked. but after each one I did a restart and got nothing until the end.

- changed network cable to different one
- installed samba performance server patch
- connected via wifi - kinda worked but very slow and major jittering during playback. then after another restart did not work? weird
- installed & reinstalled persistent mount points for network locations
- switched 24hz playback off and on
- installed BD iso menu addon
- set fixed ip / changed back to non-fixed and back to fixed.
- tried 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz wifi connections
- different network cable from NAS to switch

So after all that (and in a differnet order to the above list) it seems to now be worked. I gave it a few minutes before going into any of the media centre and kodi and it worked.

Hopefully i dont need to post again about accessing these files

cheers
