Enabling Ethernet and Wifi at the same time.
« on: August 16, 2016, 11:02:25 AM »
I have set up a NFS by connecting Q10 Pro directly with PC LAN card using a crossover cable. This gives a very stable connection.
No stuttering or freezing on Q10 Pro while streaming Blu-rays over NFS and browsing/ downloading on PC at the same time.

Unfortunately when I do this, Wifi is automatically disabled. So I cannot access internet on Q10 Pro.
I have heard that this is basically Android limitation, but same can be worked around with some re-coding of "services.jar" to enable both ETHERNET  and WIFI and the same time.

Futeko.com Administrator, can you please request HiMedia to implement this feature?

Or pcristi can you please bring out a update patch file for those who would like this option?

Thanks.

I don't think this is going to be possible.

Is it possible on any other Android device?

Conflict with IP addresses. On a PC with separate NIC's with separate drivers and interfaces it is possible.
I'd bet that doesn't apply here. Too complicated to enable, there are enough issues are there is with any of these.  ;)

Why do you need both?

Bonding two connections for extra speed, using Speedify.  I can only get 45-50mbit, so bonding two for the extra speed to stream UHD stuff. Works well on a windows device as you say.

This is nonsense! That has nothing to do with the Q10pro and only does confuse people.

Q10pro LAN is powerful enough to handle UHD content is all people need to know.

Legal ways of streaming UHD content with more than what Netflix uses are unknown to me.

My last 2 euro cents: I am getting a copying speed of 50 to 60 MB/s on my Q10 Pro in my local network (from my DIY NAS to Q10 Pro). People like CNX software have tested different formats, but only with locally stored files. Streaming very intensive formats may need a lot of Internet bandwidth or a very well configured local network (alongside a very capable router). I also think Android does not accept 2 types of connections at the same time by default. Samsung has done something with Download Booster by using WiFi and mobile data at the same time to boot download speed, but they are the only ones that have done this.

If you cannot get Nougat based firmware to work as you did before on Lollipop firmware, then maybe you should go back to that older firmware. I would also try to tweak streaming to lower the need for a very large bandwidth. Alternatively you can put the files on a stick or an external HDD for maximum performance.

I know very well to differentiate between Megabit and MegaByte. I just said that the GIgabit network card should be more than enough for streaming content. It does depend on the device where the streaming is coming from, it has to capable of high speed. There may be content that could really test the network. As I said, a capable router is needed too.

Some of the samples had about 200 Mbit bitrate. I am just trying to prove that 2 network connections are not needed, the Gigabit network connection is more than enough.

What are you on about?

It is a perfectly simple question, asking if it will work on a Q10 Pro. If you are confused, then maybe read again...

If you don't know the answer, just say, no need to try and be clever.
