Q10 Pro cant access to my nas
« on: February 07, 2018, 07:05:37 PM »
hi friends

I have a Q10 Pro updated to the fw HMD 2.0.7 2018 01 12 113104

I also have a QNAP TS251; some weeks ago I was able to browse with Q10 the multimedia folders of the nas but now I have some problems

If I use LAN options the NAS is not detected, if I use UPnP I can find NAS but I can find only family pictures and videos, the folder "movies" appear to be empty but this is not true of course!!

I opened a ticket with QNAP support, the tecnician told me that maybe the issue is due to my "not qnap certified ram"; yes I have 2x4gb kingston ram but I really dont think that this can be the problem (the qnap ram is extremely expensive  :'(  )

for this reason I decided to write here (or if you prefer to open a ticket here !!) to ask for support

many thanks for all we will help me

regards

Davide

You can try to add your SMB share manually (ip address and folder name) by creating a shortcut in Media Center.

I guess you can add the whole shared drive, by entering just the the drive letter instead of the folder name.  (Didn't tried that tho').

These HiMedai boxes have issues with automatic network share detection from the beginning, and lots of us (including me) must use the way I've described.

I never have any problem when I use NFS. Good instruction about setting up NFS: https://kodi.wiki/view/NFS#QNAP

thanks for answers!

I think that the problem is with large files (such as movies...); family pics and video are shown in UPnP mode

so do you agree with me that it's difficult to believe in a ram compatibility issue?

thanks again

I've used Samba and the Q10 has found my 6-bay QNAP with no issues (for a long time and with many firmware updates).

Ensure you have allocated a fixed IP address for the Q10 (this helps with many Windows networking issues) and ensure firewalls and anti-virus allow the network to see the Q10 (and vice-versa).  Make sure you have switched on Samba in Q10 Settings?

Yes, it is hard to believe non genuine RAM is the cause of your issues (unless it is truly not compatible).  NAS manufacturers sure know how to charge for extras....

He doesn't need to switch on SAMBA on the Q10 Pro to get access to his NAS shares. Only in the case if he want the Q10 Pro shares to be accessibe from another device.
