Hi!

I'm and old Plex user, have used it for years. Do you know if the official Plex app will ever work good on this device? My problem now is that the Plex Server transcodes every single file, it doesnt matter if it is aac, ac3, dts, dts-hd and so on. It just transcodes.

Now with the 2.0.4 custom build and the plex add-on for Kodi my q5 direct plays every file except the dts-hd ones, so that is ok.

Do you now if dts-hd will ever work with the plex add-on for Kodi? Will Kodi ever work with dts-hd?

Official Plex become badly every time when major version number change, last working for me is Plex-4.32.3.676 with Android player use. Note official Plex application can direct play only first audio track. A best option to save CPU usage on server is to use Kodi + Plex Addon, add-on have some nice feature like chapter list, subtitles download, direct play any audio track from files, support PGS subtitles without transcode, etc.

When Q Pro series come on market not once think will be possible to get(have) Android version update and Kodi more that dd, dts passthrough.
Only Hisilicon can know when/if will adopt IEC61937 standard inside of RAW or both standards, IEC61937 is not working/use in 98% of Android devices.
A good news is Android O look to have full support for IEC61937 direct on source witch maybe can be port back to older Android version and a better once Kodi 18 will have different way of probing of IEC and is considered reverting to RAW on failure. A time past will show as what will be.
