App compatability - control with remote

So we use HBO GO on our firetv box no issue. when trying to use in on our himedia box its impossible to use. the menu/buttons can only be selected if using the mouse option (which is god awful). it also doesnt scroll left/right. i have found several other apps straight from google play do the same thing and renders them useless.

is there a fix?

Edit: or much cheaper to try the HiControl app if you have an Android phone... (I would go for the airmouse on longer term).

You can try to install the Android TV version of HBO Go wich probably won't work unless you also install Halauncher (you can use it as a standalone app without replacing the stock launcher). Once you have both apps installed open Halauncher and  within open HBO Go.
 This is what I do to run the android tv version of Vimeo precisely for the same reason of ease of use with remote.

tried the hallauncher, no dice. downloaded the tv apk for hbogo, worked like a charm. found an app calles cletusplay to use my phone as a mouse or touch screen remote, love it so far.
