Newbie question Andriod 5.1.1 V 7
« on: January 28, 2017, 02:36:33 AM »
Hi,

I have just purchased the Himedia Q10Pro which was shipped with Android 5.1.1  the setup was fine and playing movies is fine.... Is there any benefits in upgrading to Ver 7... If so what are the major benefits... I use the Q10 only for streaming HD movies Atmos and DTS-X

Also do you require Andriod V7 to use the latest Kodi V 17... I noticed on the Playstore it only gives me the option of V16

Thanks
Andrew

Kodi 17 is still in beta. You have to apply for beta on Play Store. If you are satisfied with firmware based on Lollipop, then keep it like this. I moved to Nougat because of some memory leaks that made the TV box unusable after a while (I keep it always on). Since there are still updates for both firmwares, I would recommend to stay with Lollipop. Upgrade to the latest firmware, but back up everything beforehand.

You can still use Kodi 16 even on Nougat firmware, but I am not very sure that Kodi 16 will work as well with the new Wrapper. You can use 2.0.0 firmware, but 2.0.1 has a few improvements that makes it worth to be installed. I did not get into big issues with Kodi 17 Beta yet, I have SPMC also installed as a backup.
