As fas as I got information, specific support for Android was stopped (for commercial spreading including illegal add-on's) . The wait could be long.

Can you give a link for the source of this information? Cause according the Android support, the news desribed here https://kodi.tv/kodi-v17-krypton-alpha-2/ -> give an entirely different (and more promising) picture...  It's even more detailed Annroid wise and just states that from Kodi v17 support only stops for under Android version 5.0 and for Amlogic chipped devices, which for as Q10Pro/Q5 Pro owners  we wouldn't need to worry about.  So now I'm a bit confused by your information... ???

Did not see a formal statement but yes a lot of  indications. I think the KODI community is split internally where some want to give up on Android. We see already  multiple forks of KODI development. Either way it is not good news for adequate support. The pace at which new SOC's come out does not help either. KODI already is great as it is provided the HW acceleration and HD audio pass-through do work. For the last (and HDMI-CEC, USB support) recent Android  TV OS-versions do help, but that is not what is being used by Q10Pro/Q5 Pro. The Hisillicon SOC is not fully standard Amlogic either. I am a bit less optimistic unless Himedia gets their own drivers made (must be under KODI umbrella/publication to stay fully GPL compliant).  I know work is/was being done for that???

Hey NiceMonkey!

Nice to see you here  8)
I am the same Nick81 as on the Xtreamer forums... Finally took the plunge and got the Q10 to replace my good for nothing Prodigy 4K..

I am a bit worried regarding the news you reported here ... Does this mean Kodi 16 will be the last version supported on Android?
This is a bit disappointing considering one of the main factor for getting the Q10 was that it uses Android 5 and I read development has already started to prepare a firmware built around Android 7....
Are we doomed to eventually use a different media player on Android boxes?

Welcome here Nick81. Wait and see. Many things happening with multiple KODI/XBMC forks etc. Also see multiple Unix derivate's coming to this platform
A new Prodigy 4K  replacement will come soon too (stated by Realtek as one of the brands using RTD1295 SOC).
Will be interesting to see who is going to dominate in that camp, but that SOC has high potential too.
