Q5 4K3D external player issues, needs more options.
« on: March 07, 2015, 02:44:40 AM »
Got my player yesterday, figured out a few things but having issues.

Using kodi - internal player very good, apart from bluray and bluray.iso files. Thats why we use the himedia wrapper.

Now...Using kodi with the himedia wrapper, blurays play great but..... Dvd iso's dont play well (kodi handles dvd menu navigation much better), video media always starts with subtitles enabled and you have to select to turn them off.

I needed something that was family friendly. I know we can select which player to use by hitting the menu button over the chosen file, but its another option the family has got to remember.

We could do with a modified playercorefactory.xml file that would just open the external player for bluray.iso or bluray files structure. Even if we have to rename the file slightly (ie, Avatar BDdisc.iso rather than Avatar.iso). There must be a way of doing this somehow?

My problem is the wrapper APK just refuses to install. I get 'failed' every time. Installed latest Kodi 14 apk, ran it, exit, then tried to install the wrapper. I have "Unknown Sources" enabled... Kodi wouldn't have installed fine w/o that. Don't know why himediaWrapper.apk won't install. My box came with 1.0.7 firmware already installed. Any ideas guys?

Also, to add to Rob's point above, if we could have the playercorefactory.xml file, we could edit ourselves to specify when which player is used.

I am discussing this with HiMedia. They think that subtitles on as default is preferable for the majority or users. I disagree. Any opinions? I have made the point that creating an option is going to the best solution.

I'll have an answer on whether they will provide playercorefactory tomorrow. They have already said that selective launching of the HiMedia player is not possible in their opinion.

I agree a subtitle option is the best solution and it should include a just forced subtitles for foreign dialogue on english tracks.
I would also prefer subtitles off forced subtitles on as the default.

Also strongly agree that a watched flag is needed.
