Blotches in video playback - Solved
« on: April 24, 2016, 03:24:07 AM »
Does anyone have this problem with their HiMedia Q10 Pro, on certain scenes I'm experiencing blotches as seen in the photo I've provided.

The blotches on this scene is on the back of the head down to the neck.

Hi

Could just be your  source file you playing that's the fault..

Does it do this on all video ??    maybe you could give some file detail's  or even a sample I could try on mine

My own Q10 Pro  I find is very much improved Vison and Sound over the Q10..and have not found any problems with the box to date..

My source file is an ISO uncompressed video ripped by anydvdHD. I've never had this problem with my Q5. I have a Sony XBR65X900B 4K television and the Q10 Pro is hooked up to the TV with the original HDMI cable that came with the box. This problem happens with most videos, some blotches as I call it are more noticeably then others. I can't say I see it in bright scenes, mostly semi dark to dark scenes of the movie.

Here's another clip from Star Wars The Force Awakens. You could see the blotch on the hind leg of the beast and the front leg.

This is a good example of what I'm getting in a lot of the parts of the movie. Is it my Q10 pro, I know it's not my T.V. because it doesn't happen to
any other devices I use.

I even turned off the express engine OFF and still have this problem,

I'd like to know if anyone else is having this happen?

Here's a link to Stars Wars Force Awakens, the part shown in the above picture, if anyone can try it on their Q10 pro and let me know if they're getting the same problem. Thanks

Hope the link works, I'm new to dropbox!

That file doesn't play at all in HiMedia player or native Kodi, I think there's something wrong with how you've spliced the avi down to 9 seconds.

1.4GB seems large for 9 seconds of DVD quality video..

Sorry about that, I've used another program to edit the video, can you try this one. It's smaller in size but should be uncompressed, again Thanks

Possibly:

A cable problem.

Your TV needs to be set up for RGB colorspace (Q10 Pro by defaults outputs RGB, Q5 4K3D was YUV).

Or, go Settings - More - Display - Colorspace and change to one of the YCbCr (YUV) options.

Problem solved - Thanks

I set the HiMedia Q10 pro to 2160 resolution and color space went automatically to YCbCr4:20:0:8 bit. Now the blotch is gone!
