Blu-ray/DVD menu problem with Dune HD Real Vision 4K
« on: March 09, 2023, 03:42:34 AM »
I just bought a Dune HD Real Vision 4K. I have many Blu-rays, DVDs, DVD-Audio, SACD discs that I ripped to a hard drive. My main reason to buy a Dune media player was to play the ripped files in the hard drive with menus (my OPPO player does not play them with menus and does not support iso file playback). Dune played most of them ok but 2 blu-ray and about 12 DVDs have problem with menus. With blu-ray iso, the menu will come up as a blank screen and the Dune player will freeze; with DVDs, menu will come up but disappears after about 2 seconds before I can select anything from the menu.

Anyone experienced this kind of issues? Please help. Not sure how to contact Dune tech support to troubleshoot.

Have you installed the latest firmware?

Yes. I even tried the lastest beta.

Here're the names of the blu-ray/DVDs and the issues. I extracted them from my original discs. The discs play fine on my OPPO and the ISO, BDMV, VIDEI_TS all play fine with VLC, Power DVD:

- Jimi Hendrix - Live At Woodstock (blu-ray): no menu comes up, screen goes blank and Dune player freezes.

- Live 8 (4 DVD set): With all 4 DVD folders, main menu comes up but when I select Audio option or any other sub-menu it shows the sub menu for 2-3 second and before I can select anything, the sub menu disappears and exits.

- Jethro Tull - Aqualung - 40th Anniversary Adapted Edition 2016 (2 DVD): With both DVD folders, main menu comes up but when I select Audio option or any other sub-menu it shows the sub menu for 2-3 second and before I can select anything, the sub menu disappears and exits.

- Jethro Tull - Benefit - 50th Anniversary (DVD 1): Main menu comes up for 2-3 second and before I can select anything, the menu disappears and exits.

- Jethro Tull - Benefit - A Collector's Edition 2013 (DVD): Main menu comes up for 2-3 second and before I can select anything, the menu disappears and exits.

- Jethro Tull - Minstrel In The Gallery - 40th Anniversary Grand Edition 2015 (DVD 1): main menu comes up but when I select Audio option or any other sub-menu it shows the sub menu for 2-3 second and before I can select anything, the sub menu disappears and exits.

- Jethro Tull - Stand Up - Elevated Edition 2016 (DVD): main menu comes up but when I select Audio option or any other sub-menu it shows the sub menu for 2-3 second and before I can select anything, the sub menu disappears and exits.

- Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick - 40th Anniversary (DVD): Main menu comes up for 2-3 second and before I can select anything, the menu disappears and exits.

- Jethro Tull - This Was - 50th Anniversary Extended Edition 2018 (DVD): Main menu comes up for 2-3 second and before I can select anything, the menu disappears and exits.

What did you rip them with ?
Blu ray BDMV folder > MakeMKV, ISO > AnyDVD, ImgBurn. DVD > DVD decrypter. I ripped many others and they work fine.

Another issue:

It's not mapping quad (4.0) channels correctly. So, no sound coming from the rear 2 channels. Dune support could re-create the issue and seems the cause is related to limitations of Realtek RTD1619 SDK, it is incompatible with these files. Their R&D team will check if there is a solution for this (not sure when).
