Posters for MKV files & app to check network connection
« on: January 04, 2023, 11:34:09 AM »
Hi everyone,

I've got 2 questions regarding Dune software in general:

1. Is there a possibility to make the Dune recognize a movie in an MKV container and retrieve its (iMDB) details? Similar to how it works for Blu-ray images. I've seen this on rare occasions but wasn't able to replicate for other movies.
So I was wondering if maybe there's a way to make the Dune automatically recognize the movie.

2. Is there an Android app that can test your network connection (try and download packets to check speed, send multiple pings to see response time and if any time-out) ?
Why I'm asking:
I've own the Ultra Vision 4K for over a year and have had constant random hang-ups / freezes during playback.
The way I watch is by having the Dune connected directly to my PC via a Gbit ethernet CAT7 cable and a USB3 to RJ45 adapter (since the motherboard RJ45 input is occupied by my ISP LAN cable). There's no router involved, it's a direct connection.
I have a NFS share set up on the PC with haneWIN software. I tried watching via SMB share, but the problem is the same.

Before anyone points out the cable or adapter, please note that it's the exact same setup I had when I used the Oppo 203 and had no issues with it. No freezes whatsoever or occasional stuttering.

As of a few weeks ago, I started watching from a SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD which is connected to the Dune via USB-C cable.
No issues (freezes) as of yet.
So it got me thinking if maybe the Dune has some networking issues making it drop the connection and cause these freezes. Because on some occasions, after rebooting the player the NFS or SMB share would not show up in the Network Browser and another reboot would be needed.

I do need some sort of way to verify this...

1. Do you not use the integrated indexing process that uses IMDB?

2. Trying disabling auto indexing and check if the issue persists.
