Does the Z1000 Pro format the internal hdd?
« on: November 23, 2020, 04:10:40 PM »
Thinking about buying a Z1000 Pro to  replace my 4 years old Himedia Q10 Pro.

I'd like to reuse my hdd that's now inside the Q10 without losing my files, it's doable or it does it format the internal hdd  when first mounted?

Thank you in advance.

It does not format the HDD.

It will almost certainly be possible to simply remove the HDD from the Q10 Pro and insert it into the Zidoo. Zidoo Home Theatre should index the contents automatically.

I just took the HDD out of the HiMedia Q10 and inserted it into the Zidoo Z1000 Pro. No problems. Works first time  ;D!

Assuming you have all of your videos in a folder named "video" and all of your music in a folder named "music", then all you have to do is point the Home Theatre app to the "videos" folder and the Music Player app to the "music" folder.
If you used Kodi as your interface on HiMedia then you will be impressed with Zidoo's Home Theatre, it's a far superior app!

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to put my old SATA HDD from my Dune into my new Zidoo Z1000, but the Zidoo doesn't seem to detect the HDD...
How exactly do you "point the Home Theatre app to the "videos" folder" if my Zidoo doesn't see a video folder?

Thanks.

Do you know the partition table / format for the HDD from the Dune?

Zidoo boxes are compatible with GPT partition table and FAT / EXFAT / NTFS / EXT2 / EXT3 / EXT4 format.

This won't be a problem with a drive from an old HiMedia/Dune player, but Zidoo do not support 4K native drives, so larger modern drives need a 512e compatibility mode (as most have).
