Video_ts map won't play
« on: November 25, 2015, 02:41:52 PM »
Hello,
does anybody have this problem?
If i try to watch a movie that is on my usb drive or on H8 itself, and it has the structure Like:  Movie,  audio_ts,  Video_ts map,
and in the Video_ts map are the files:  vob and bup and so on, the H8 does not play the movie, just opens the map Video_ts and i see all the files. But what file i try doesn.t mather, it is not playing.
It should see the main map Movie and then start playing the movie but doesn't !!
I hope you understand what i mean :)
All other files like avi, mpeg, mkv, BD it plays perfect.
Thanks for the help.

Use Kodi. It will play rips in directory structure no problem.

Kodi on H8 plays with similar performance to himediaplayer on H8. It's not like Q5 where himediaplayer is much better than native Kodi player.

Future development for H8 will be focussed on improving Kodi rather than Himediaplayer.

Nope.......:(  :(

Same problem,  i see the Video-ts folder, and when i press  play, it won't open folder or play folder.
I only can open folder by pressing ok button an d then i see all the files inside this folder,
ofcourse i can click a file like video.vob and this file will play, but i can no longer change subtitle and/or audio.
So thanks for help but still nothing i can do to change this problem.
Or i have to convert all of these movies to mkv or mp4 or avi, but this takes ages.....so no.

If you select the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in the VIDEO_TS folder it will play the DVD correctly.

When adding video to the library (i.e. VIDEO - Files - Add videos - browse to share folder - OK), make sure the 'scan recursively' option is selected. This option will cause the DVD folders to be added correctly to Kodi library.

Hello,

sorry to inform you, but it didn't work for me :(
My H8 will not play  Video_ts.ifo  files.
All the time i get an error messages when i try to open/play it.

In Kodi i could not go to the share folder from my usb connected HDD  to select it to the library, but i also have a network drive and this one i could connect, but still i could not play/open the IFO files.
Also in Kodi it will not play the folder were the movie is in.

And i could not find the option "scan recursively" anywere......

So thanks for your help but it didn't work for me.
Perhaps when a newer firmware comes out i will be lucky :)
For now i will convert every movie to MKV, because this is playable on the H8.

Thanks again.

Converting every movie to mkv is painful and it shall lost quality....

You cannot find your HDD in Kodi?

Try to find your HDD first, inside Kodi: VIDEOS -> Files -> Add videos... -> Browse -> Root filesystem -> mnt -> usb_storage -> USB_DISK4 -> [Your HDD shall be here].  Select your HDD and press OK, it will return to "Add Video source" screen, press OK again and now your HDD shall be available inside Kodi

H8 will definitely play .IFO in Kodi.

Go Videos - Files - Add videos - Browse, and navigate to the directory you want to add as a share. Select OK.

You now have an 'Add video source' dialog where you can name the share.

Select OK.

Choose what type of content is in the folder. Make sure 'scan recursively' is checked.

The contents of this folder (including DVD rips in folder format) will be populated to the MOVIES (or TV SHOWS etc) section of Kodi database and available from main menu with thumbnails, synopsis. etc.

The folder will also be available under Videos - Files - sharename, so if you prefer to navigate the directory structure, you can navigate to the VIDEO_TS.IFO file inside the VIDEO_TS folder.

Apologies for the very poor photos.  :-[
