Internal HDD USB connection issue
« on: September 18, 2018, 09:12:21 AM »
Hi Guys,

I use internal 4tb hdd,  but when i want to copy file using its usb connection to the laptop, first it detects the hdd and start copying files, but after few second it disconnects its self, and the file copy stops, then again reconnects it self. This thing of connect and dis connect of usb , goes on continuously. then i am forced to remove the hdd from the player and have attach as a ext usb to my laptop and copy files.

Any suggestion

Thanks

Try another USB cable, is it USB 2.0 or 3.0? It could be also the power supply of the Q10.

Hi Thanks for your reply

USB cable changed and checked, as i am an IT guy, i am using 3.0 cable. Power supply working fine , as rest all other functions are ok

I had the same issue, I had to buy a POWERED USB hub and connect that to my PC. When I simply connected the cable direct I would have the same issues you described but once I got the powered hub it worked every time.

I've had an issue with my laptop, with a specific hard drive inside the Q10 it would only work in one of the USB ports.

The issue could well be Windows USB 3.0 drivers in your PC/laptop.
My older i5 PC has had a lot of USB 3.0 connection reliability issues using Windows 10 with a number of external Seagate HDD's and some unpowered and powered WD external drives.  Often, I have resorted to a USB 2.0 port (or cable) to gain reliability for large file transfers (at slower speeds).

Perhaps surprisingly, using a USB 3.0 cable on the Q10Pro rear port has been solid to use each time (on the same PC to a USB 3.0 port), with no issues transferring files to and from the internal 4Tb drive.  It behaves very well for me and better than most external drives.....
