Thanks for the bug report. I can replicate this and Himedia have been informed. I am sure this will be fixed in next firmware.

In Firmware: HIMEDIA H8 OCTA. 10-NOV-2015. FIRMWARE HMD-1.0.7 (FINAL) FUTEKO-EN they remove the menu entry to set the encoding.
So it is still not possible to correctly watch UTF-8 (Unicode) subtitles!
