Video Output
« on: October 14, 2015, 02:51:02 PM »
I just purchase a Himedia H8 unit. I've notice the video output of Kodi is only 720p and cannot be changed. The unit was pre-installed with Kodi 15.0. The unit is currently outputting 1080p/60 with no problem. My windows version 15.0 has many more video options to change. Why would Himedia limit Kodi?? or is this an Android thing. This is my first Android TV Box , so I have know idea..........

Should I try to install the new Kodi 15.1 stable version?? I so, how to I go about doing that??

Thanks!

Hi Clovis,

It's an Android thing..

What you'll find is tha Kodi is slightly different depending on what platform you're running it on.. I have Kodi running on a Raspberry Pi, on a Fire TV and on a H8.. Kodi has different video settings because the hardware is different on each of them..

The latest Kodi version from Himedia with the 1.0.6 firmware has a custom version of Kodi specific to the H8 chipset and it has more video options.. You'll have to wait for the final version though as it's still being developed..

Thanks!

I'm looking forward to the new firmware. I just hope they "up" the output resolution to at least 1080p with the new firmware update. It is a 4K box, we deserve more than a wimpy 720p. I hope buying something this new pays off in the coming months.

I never watched a complete TV episode yet. Tonight's the test.
