Hi,

Is there a way for Kodi on Q10 Pro to refresh technical media info of video files?
I tried what I could but it has no effect so far.

Here's what my problem is.
I have my movie collection in a Kodi libary. Most of this files are 1080p mkv bluray rips with 5.1 lossless or lossy audio.
Recently I started to replace some of this movies with 4K HDR 7.1 files.

In a Kodi library, there is short technical info about file for each movie (bottom right corner, for example: 5.1 Dolby 1080HD).

Now, I tried 2 sollutions:
1. I turned off Q10, copied/replace mkv file with 4K 7.1 movie (same file name). Turned Q10/Kodi on and refreshed library. Movie is still shown 5.1 1080HD which is wrong.
2. I removed file from library and deleted file from disk (through Kodi). Cleaned and refreshed library. Copied 4K 7.1 file (still same file name). Refreshed library - movie found but still shown as 5.1 1080HD.

Now, I suspect that there is some information about original file written in Kodi database but why isn't it removed when removing/deleting file and when another file with the same name is added, the technical info isn't refreshed?

Maybe changing file name would do the trick, but I wouldn't want to do this because I have other devices connected to the same NAS with different data bases (I don't want to mess with those).

Appreciate any ideas.

Found out a walk around.

I have to play each of the replaced movies using Kodi internal player.
After stoping a movie, information is updated.

As long as you use a slightly different file name, the Kodi library will rescan fine.
It makes sense to not use the same name for different quality.  You could end up deleting the wrong one!
Just add HDR 7.1, 2160p or similar to the new file names to differentiate them?

Thanks Phil.

Already did all my way and it's fine.

I wanted to keep file names unchanged to avoid dealing with libraries on my other devices (popcorn hour vten and wd tv in other rooms).
