MKA for 2018?
« on: December 31, 2017, 09:45:22 PM »
I think a mediaplayer should be able to play all "media".
Kodi is able to play .mka but with the limitation of stereo.
Himedia doesn't recognise the extension.
So, I have a music file in Dolby Atmos but Q10 Pro can't play that.
To solve all these limitation, HIMEDIA must fix the AUDIO PROBLEM with Kodi because wrapper can't do all the things Kodi ca play (i.e. DSD).

Android has a limitation with audio playback, this is what I read in another thread here (about flac files at 48000 khz).

but Atmos is a bitstream.
ANDROID manages well this type of audio.

mka is a container, (same as mkv is for video).
It is the audio codec inside the container that will dictate how simple it is to change to another format the Himedia does play.
There is not a lot of audio only Atmos tracks around (most come with video) but you would assume it is lossless TrueHD audio since it is from Dolby?
Most likely the mka audio has been extracted from a Pure Audio Blu-ray or similar?

Where is this thread you mention? Is it just for video? I've ripped all my CDs to my Q10 as FLAC.

Yes.
Then convert file to mkv (with no video) and TrueHD audio will play fine in 7.1 with Atmos using MediaCenter (or Kodi with wrapper).

I cannot seem to find that thread. Maybe it was related to FLAC audio playback. I had no issues with FLAC files, but I am not using a receiver.
