Update Faliure Q10 Pro
« on: August 24, 2017, 06:37:59 PM »
Hi there, im new to the Himedia brand and as of now im not really that impressed. Ive had a bunch of mediaplayers in the past, ranging from the first Xtreamers, AppleTvs, Popcorn Hour and so on.

Non of the former gave me any hassle when upgrading the firmware.

Actually i would have kept my Xtreamer if it was able to upgrade any further.

Anyway. Im stuck on Version 5.1.1 and Kernel 3.18.24

Ive done as the instructions tells me to do, and nothing, android update comes up and the boot into the "standard" firmware

@ Futeko, just a small tip, when you post all these links to firmwares it tends to get confusing. Try to simplify with the most up to date firmwares and whats needed for the time beeing. i work in a electrical bransch and we have our own section of software and firmwares, and if id were to post like that my phone would be glowing right now.

So, im trying to update from 5.11 to 7.0 with no luck at all. ive used every ports of the usb without success. ive downloaded every actual firmware that is for the Q10. Same result all the time.

Has the hardware been modified since lauch so you only can update the official releases?

And will there be options to delete all the hardcoded apps that i dont want or use, i e Facebook, Chrome and so on?

Kind regards

Hi,
Try to disconnect the power cable, press the button in the back and while pressing it reconnect the power cable. It worked to a user that was having the same issue. Does the USB stick has only the file update.zip and is it formatted in fat32?

You can uninstall unwanted apps if you install a custom firmware version.

I got it to work thank you, for some reason i did not get the zip package to my thumbdrive but my MBP app unpacked it every single time. so after a closer look i just moved the update.zip and it worked perfect.

Im used to .bin files, much easier to upgrade.

@MrQute-n. Thanks for the tip. The update process is confusing because it is complicated. Different update paths for different products. We do our best to make it as easy as possible without risking customers bricking their box.

It would have been easier for you if you'd bought from a reseller who pre-installed latest firmware.  ;)

The hardware has not been modified to restrict what firmware you can install. HiMedia released new Android 5.1 to Android 7 firmware downloads a few days ago which make it much easier to go from Android 5.1 to Android 7 v2.0.4. We are updating our firmware threads today to reflect this. Check back here in a few hours: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=2096.0

Follow instructions carefully. Use a freshly formatted FAT32 USB stick of 8GB or smaller.

The pcristi custom firmwares allow you to deleted the system apps. http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=812.0
