Himedia Q10 Firmware upgrade
« on: July 12, 2017, 09:34:35 AM »
Hi, I bought the Himedia Q10 in March and tried to update the new firmware last night. I followed the instructions but when I tried to boot from the usb drive I got the rotating rainbow circles and the update bar, but after that had finished it just froze with the Himedia logo on screen and the box front saying boot. I left it like that for a couple of hours before pulling the power cord to switch off. Can anyone tell me what to do now please?

You posted in the wrong forum.

What firmware exactly did you try and install?

If you reboot the box without any USB stick inserted but with the restore button on back pressed, what happens?

Hi, thanks for responding and apologies for posting in the wrong section.

I have now tried re-booting without the usb in, whilst holding in the reset button and I end up with the word "boot" displayed on the front panel and the HiMedia logo on the screen and nothing else happens.

I was trying to install the firmware version2.0.4

Not sure what to do now?

Do you know what firmware you had installed before you attempted the update?

If you hadn't tried to update before now then I think it would have been 2.0.1, based on when you bought the box from us.

Did you try and install 2.0.4 direct from 2.0.1 or did you install 2.0.3 first?

Hi, I didn't try to install 2.0.3 I assumed that would have been the version installed when purchased. If I try installing 2.0.3 now, would it sort the problem out?

According to our records you bought the item about 2 weeks before 2.0.3 was released.

The upgrade path for 2.0.4 from 2.0.1 is to install 2.0.3 and then 2.0.4.

Please try installing 2.0.3.

If that doesn't work try reinstalling 2.0.1. 2.0.1 actually stands a better chance of rescuing your box because it re-formats internal flash whereas 2.0.3 does not.

Thank you for your time and patience. I'll try that when I get home tonight. Again, thank you.
