hi there,

I have a few macs on my network, kodi is perfect for library for my network drives (via nfs, smb or uPnP), and the HiMedia internal HDD, but when it comes to macs - if i try using:
1/ SMB - I can see my mac machine but when trying to "enter it" it gives an error - login failed (don't know where to give a username/pass (and yes SMB is fully operational only macs for other things.

2/ NFS - i have an nfs server on my mac, and it doesn't recognise it when browsing for nfs sources. do i need to enter a special manual string ?

thanks for any help

I have no idea with Mac stuff, but there is a general guide to setting up Samba on Mac for sharing with Windows PCs here: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH18707?locale=en_US

Setup on the Mac should be exactly the same as if you were sharing with a Windows PC.

yes I have my mac set up properly for SMB (I use it all the time with other devices), but with HiMedia Q10Pro, it can see the directory but when trying to access it gives an error message (I think it has to do with login issues).... thing is it only happens with Kodi (SMB via the HiMedia Player works just fine - LAN) so I am using my MediaPlayer for computer access.... Kodi for other networked devices....

I would still like to do everything on Kodi, for this I will need to access my mac via NFS (preferably as it's the fastest) - but again Kodi cannot access it via NFS (while Media player can access it and browse for it), or via SMB (again Kodi sees the computer but cannot access it), while media player can.....

so I went to Kodi to the parameters for SMB and I saw there is an option for username/password I filled in the correct credentials, it still doesn't work.

this is A KODI issue.
