Right, so I've tried the media centre and it's the same.
Here are the media info logs for 2 films that don't work (TrueHD) and one that does (being DTS HD). Because there is considerable judder in the picture, I've included the video files as well. I should also say that all my movies are ripped using MakeMKV. I rip them 1:1 with just main movie, main soundtrack and English forced subtitles.

What I notice immediately is that the TrueHd soundtrack has a much higher bitrate than the DTS soundtrack. Presumably that's not the reason though? Apart from that, they look pretty much the same, unless I'm missing something...?
