Wrapper Issues
« on: February 07, 2018, 05:33:05 AM »
Android 7, Running latest Firmware version HMD-2.0.7
Kodi Shitty Version 17.6
xbmcwrapper_1.0.3_HMD_0411_Release

My box is working well, except, I have a few strange issues with the Wrapper in any version of Kodi or SPMC (playercorefactory manually copied for SPMC). Playercorefactory is standard without any alterations.

1. The very first time I play a video the wrapper starts a Web Browser session, I then have to press Return a few times to go back to Kodi and then the video starts. This only happens the first time I play a video. All videos will play normally after that until I restart the box, then the same thing happens again.

2. When watching a video and pressing the menu key it is frozen the first time. I have to press the return key to get out of the frozen menu, if I press the menu key again it works. This is repeatable all the time, the first press is frozen and the next time it works. It only happens when using the wrapper.

3. The final annoying thing is when starting a video it plays from where it was last running. Vey rarely do I get the prompt where you have a choice of resuming or starting again. Occasionally I get this prompt, but why does it not happen every time I play a video that has already been started.

Any ideas please.

Strange problem. I can't replicate it and I've not seen it reported by any other users.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the wrapper:

* How to reinstall wrapper? Shutdown Kodi. Find wrapper app at My Apps - Wrapper. Select 'use Kodi player'. Exit wrapper app. Run wrapper app again. Select 'use wrapper player'. Exit wrapper app. Restart Kodi.

If that doesn't work try deleting playercorefactory.xml the reinstalling wrapper as above:

* How to modify the wrapper's behaviour? The wrapper is controlled by a file called 'playercorefactory.xml'. This can be easily modified. Method 1 (using Q5/Q10 Pro): - Install a file manager app like 'total commander'. - Navigate to root/sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/ - Edit playercorefactory.xml (total commander has a built in file editor). Method 2 (using a PC): - Enable Samba sharing on Q5/Q10 Pro (Settings - More - SAMBA Service - Enable) - Navigate to Q5/Q10 Pro on a PC and then to /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/ - Edit playercorefactory.xml using PC file editor

Thanks for the reply, but another day, another discovery, looks like I have falsely named the Wrapper as being the culprit. It is actually the built in Media Center that has these strange quirks.

Media Center_2.2.26_HMD_1030_release

I have tried playing directly through the Media Center and found all these issues are happening in the Media player.

I have reset the Media Player but that did not make any difference, it looks like I am the only one with these quirks, very strange.
Is there a download for the Media Player? I would like to try and reinstall the player, given it seems to be the issue.

You will find the built-in Media Center (media player) is part of the firmware.  It has been updated with various firmware releases.
Best option is to install the latest firmware from this forum (currently 2.0.7) as this will overwrite whatever you have.

Thanks for the info Phil181; given that I am already on 2.0.7 and none of these issues are show stoppers. I might just wait for the next firmware release and hope that gets rid of these strange quirks.

Otherwise the box is working well all round, 7.1 sound passthrough and picture quality is excellent, I have no other issues and no one else seems to have reported the same issues.

I reflash might fix it, but as long as there are more firmware releases, I might just wait for awhile before I do anything.

Would really like to know what the best version of firmware is that has been released so far, but I guess there are many varied opinions on that topic.
My box came with 2.0.6, I really wish I had fully tested it;  I upgraded to 2.0.7 immediately (my bad).

1.
Do you have Firefox installed or are using another launcher?

Okay well done stl. You sorted out the crazy browser issue (which was the most annoying).

I am kicking myself, I had both Firefox and Opera installed and I uninstalled Opera earlier as it was my default browser. But that made no difference, so I gave up on that idea and reinstalled it.
After reading your post, I uninstalled both browsers and Bingo 'Media Center' no longer runs a web browser on first launch.

Thanks heaps :)

Issues 2&3 also resolved!  :)

After reading somewhere here about a warning using air mice, I decided to reinvestigate  the other 2 issues.
It seems that the box has some strange quirks using an air mouse. Beware there may be other quirks!

Earlier I had tried to use the original remote when the video had started, it did the same thing as the air mouse, so I did not think this was the problem.

After a revisit on this issue, I tried using the original remote to navigate and start the video and it all worked normal.
If I use the air mouse to navigate and start the video, the problem is there, even if you use the original remote to bring up the menu while playing.

I have tried 3 air mouses and they all have the same result.

It's like a out of sync issue, maybe if I used the directional cursor on the air mouse it would work, but kinda defeats the purpose.

Great forum (futeko), thanks to all for the suggestions.

I would like to adress my Problem here, too. But im not 100% shure if its a wrapper Problem.

Im using the q5 with Android 7 and latest Firmware with Kodi 17.6
I can Play youtube-videos with the app from the Google-playtore. no Problem.
But if i want to view a Trailer which is linked from a movie. YouTube doesnt Show up. There is just a message for a blick of an eye. cant read it that fast. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the YouTube/kodi-plugin. but nothing changes.
It worled before upgrading to kodi 17.6
