Q10 Pro multichannel PCM
« on: December 03, 2016, 12:13:42 PM »
Hello,

I'm just trying to get any multichannel PCM out of my Q10 pro. Audio settings (hdmi audio) are set to LPCM but my Denon AVR7200 only recognize a stereo PCM signal. Played source is a movie with DTS 5.1 audio. I've tried out everything but my Denon always get stereo PCM from the Q10 pro...

Any idea?

Q5/Q10 Pro will either output DTS raw or downmic it to stereo, they won't output it as multi-channel LPCM.

Hmm okay...

Refering to the specs listed on this site you find:

" Q10 Pro supports all HD-Audio formats. Dolby True-HD, Dolby True-HD ATMOS, DTS:X, DTS-HD MA, 5.1/7.1 LPCM, "

Why is the singnal beeing downmixed to stereo? Is this a firmware or hardware limitation?

Still don't understand....

Q5/Q10 Pro will not convert DTS/AC3/True-HD etc formats into LPCM. It will downmix to stereo PCM or pass them raw (bitstream).

Q5/Q10 Pro will pass 5.1/7.1 LPCM in FLAC / ALAC (i.e. music formats).

I guess it's a software limitation, but it's at a very low level. I don't expect this to be changed in future firmware updates.

Worse  transcoding various HQ audio formats to LPCM is typically done in HW. The SOC can or can't do it. Don't expect it to come neither.

What should be fixed is passing out SQ Pure Audio in RAW LPCM mode. Now it is being processed which should not happen.

Hello,

New to the Q5 Pro here (just bought it) and one of the main reasons I bought it is because it supported all HD audio formats (DTS/AC3/True-HD etc). How will I be able to pass through those formats so that they can be decoded by my Yamaha RX381 amp? All files I have tested so far, in the "signal info" of they amplfier either show just DTS (not DTS HD) or DTS-ES Mtrx etc, but never HD.

Please help on that.

Thanks

From main menu go Settings - Playback. Settings should be:

HDMI Output: RAW
HBR Output RAW7.1

Now, for all audio played using HiMedia media center or Kodi+wrapper, HD-Audio will be passed raw to receiver.

Use the Wrapper not the Kodi DVD Player. On Kodi Player there is no HD Support for soundformats with this device.
