Himedia Q series cannot handle AAC 6.1 and up?

When I play content with this audio (it's a specific AAC encoding I think, because other AAC encoding works) - it works on my PC, but does not deliver sound to my TV (audio over HDMI, no receiver) - but I've already read that people with receiver get no sound, or just a stereo signal.
Any idea why it happens, and how to correct it?

1. Don't use  the lame TV's speakers, anything is better. Buy at least a cheap Analogue Stereo PC Speaker set (I advise Genius SPHF-1250B as an entry, but there are better for higher price) and connect directly to the Box.

2. Till you do that, and still using the TV speakers, try both PCM and Raw settings for HDMI in the Settings menu on the Box.

The Q10Pro will bitstream AAC 7.1 via HDMI to a receiver that can handle it.
 
It is not a common codec to use and I had to convert a TrueHD audio track to AAC to test.  There was a quirk with AAC that required a second unused audio track on the same video, to ensure the AAC 7.1 track played successfully.  I've not retested lately to confirm if this is still the case with latest firmware.  AAC 5.1 still works fine as it is more commonly found and used.

Not sure how you believe your TV (without a receiver) can playback 7.1 channel audio?

Hi, I'm about to buy my AV receiver (Marantz SR6015), and was wondering about this method you mentioned. Do you mean to add an empty audio track to the existing video? I can do that with MKVToolNIX quite easily. Is that all it takes? my setup will be 5.1.2. How can you tell if a receiver will support AAC without actually testing it?

How do I add the empty audio track to test?  With that MKVToolNIX?  If i have that program what steps do i need to take?

Too add tracks using mkvtoolnix, you create an empty track using any audio editor (such as adobe audition, or any free editor) save it as a audio file (wav is good) and then open the video file in mkvtoolnix, drag and drop the empty audio file in and save the result. (Remux it)

Ok, I am confused on the creating the empty audio track. It sounds like once i have that it is simple to remux in MKVToolNIX. 

I have Audacity which I think I can use.  Does the length have to be the same as the actual audio track already on the video file?

01-03-2021 UPDATE! PROBLEM SOLVED BY ENABLE ALL THE AUDIO "PASSTHROUGH'" OPTIONS IN KODI 19.0 MATRIX. THIS WORKS WITH SPDIF COAXIAL AND OPTICAL CONNECTION TO RECEIVER WITHOUT HDMI! ! !
Dear all. I also bumped into the problem from AAC AC3 DTS 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 formats with the coaxial or optical output from the Q10 Pro (2016 model) to my receiver. Although last week it suddenly did work, but since I tried to update the Kodi player I've lost the desired AC3 DTS (5.1) output. I've tried Kodi 18.2, 18.7 and 18.9 versions. There is a newer 19.0 version, but there is no official update for that. Also with the internal player no AC3 DTS output with the AAC video content. I have been fiddling around with the wrapper player setting as well the other audio settings from my Q10 Pro. I would like to know how to get it back again please. On my Windows 10 pro pc everything works fine with the desired outputs, but not with the HiMedia Q10 pro.
