HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Re: Kodi startup
« on: July 25, 2017, 11:05:38 AM »
Does anyone have problems with starting Kodi. When I manually start the first time I get a message with wait or close. If I do nothing, wait for the highlight to appear on the message and click wait, most times it works.  some times after two attempts I have to click close and if that does not work I have to force close in android app setting menu. I have had this problem with the original firmware 2.0.3 which was very unstable then downgraded to 2.0.1 (kodi very unstable) and now on 2.0.3 shitty custom.  When I restart Kodi it works OK, apart from this problem, my Q10  is the most stable has been and can live with it unless it is something simple, its just annoying.

Do you have a very large media library or a lot of add-ons installed?

You could try installing 2.0.4. It's better than 2.0.3 + pcristi repack.
No I have a very small library and only a reasonable amount of add-ons. I will try the new firmware 2.0.4 when I have the time.
Thanks.

I should have read the instructions more carefully. Thanks for pointing out my stupid mistake.
So far this is the most stable my Q10 has been, I have been thinking I had a faulty box.
Hope it continues. like the new look.

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / failed install CFW 2.0.3
« on: July 03, 2017, 04:39:42 PM »
I got the upgrade circle for about 3 seconds
Android droid logo the white bar at the bottom goes all the way about 20 seconds
highmedia logo appears for about 10 seconds
then the HMD 2.0.3 standard version is displayed.
I waited for 45 minutes and nothing changed rebooted and still standard ver 2.0.3
It is very unstable I get ST process stopped every 20 minutes
and some times
3D launcher keeps stopping
3D launcher has stopped
OTA has stopped
and then my box locks up.

I down loaded the CFW shitty 2.0.3 again extracted and put it on a reformatted usb drive and repeated the process with the same result above.
When I extract the file I am asked if I want to overwrite some files as they already exist, I accepted one time and rejected another.
After trying three times I have downgraded again to 2.0.1.

What am I doing wrong?

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / understanding firmware numbers
« on: June 29, 2017, 08:32:23 AM »
Does Q10 pro firmware numbers go in sequence. eg is HMD-2.0.3 2017-04-12.105811 newer than  HMD-2.0.3 2017-04-12.095905 listed above.
The reason I ask as my box came with HMD-2.0.3 2017-04-12.105811

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / What happens when you flash
« on: June 27, 2017, 01:23:40 PM »
Does the system rom or the new flash software on the usb stick delete all the flash memory or just enough to load the the new version.
and does that include Kodi and all its addons.
is better to delete kodi before flashing so nothing is left behind.
Is it advisable to remove the Rii remote usb dongle, hard drive and sd card before flashing.
My box is lockes up with starting and exiting Kodi and shutting down  I have already downgraded from 2.0.3 to 2.0.1 due to ST process stopping.
When I first got my box on the 4th time I turned it on it locked up even after turning off the power and back on several times.
I had to press the reset pin and power on, I got the coloured ring you get when you flash your box.
If I press reset and turn on the box again will that flash to 2.1.3 or 2.0.1 or just reset all settings to a clean default setting

is there a self-diagnostic function or app to check the memory CPU and auxiliary processes.
I am having so many problems I am beginning to wonder if there is a fault with my box

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / low profile micro SD adapter
« on: June 17, 2017, 02:21:42 PM »
Has anyone tried using a low profile micro SD adapter like one for the raspberry Pi.
so it does not stick out the side of the box and get easily knocked?

Sorted ;D
All I had to do was to disconnect my VPN before shutting down.
Now shuts down and turns on with both remote and front of the box even without closing any apps.
stupidly simple both me and the solution

I have tried another power supply and down graded firmware to HMD 2.0.1 due to sd process  and launcher 3d stopping. but my q10 still does not shut down. When I press the power button to turn off I get no HDMI connection screen goes blank  the time display continues working on the front but the box does not respond to anything have to unplug power adapter.
I have worked with computers since before windows this Himedia box is my first introduction to android and I getting frustrated, hoping it is some thing simple.
To make sure I am not doing any thing stupid this is how I shut it down.
Home screen click on little square bottom of screen and shut down my apps then press red power button on remote or front panel. normal wait 15 minutes but have waited several hours.
