AV Receiver HD-Audio Incompatibility List
« on: May 02, 2016, 12:14:28 PM »
We have a couple of threads where posters are reporting problems with 7.1 HD-Audio from Q10 Pro.

Usually audio being 5.1 DTS/AC3 channel max and not 7.1 HD-Audio.

It's not a common problem and might possibly be an incompatibility with certain AV receivers.

If you're having this problem please post details of your setup here so we can try and establish a pattern and help HiMedia fix it.

Hello Futeko,

After testing with the new Himedia Q10 Pro i notice some problems with HD Audio not recognized with the Wrapper 3.6 instead of the setting in passthrough is on and correctly set as my old Q10 4K witch working fine with my Yamaha receiver YSP-2200.

Testing with lots of movies as expendable 3 with Atmos audio and also True -HD, same way not decoding. Did you have an issu as before with the Q10 4K with the patch for atmos and HD Audio ? or wa can think soon a new firmware with lots of bugs resolved;

Testing also with Dvdplayer and can read HD Audio.

Thanks for your support.

HD-Audio should pass without problem, whether using wrapper or HiMedia app. I've not seen any general problem and it works on the equipment we have here. Also, general testing across this forum and others indicates that is usually works fine.

The more info about this problem we can get the better. HiMedia will try and fix it but the cause needs to be better identified. Thanks for posting receiver info.

Hi everybody,

After testing my new Himedia Q10 Pro with my Panasonic Viera VT50 and my receiver Yamaha YSP-2200 with 1.4 HDMI cable witch work well with my old Q10 4K, my question is to know if there is a compatibilty with HD Audio DTS-HD, True-HD and Atmos sound.

Did there is a real difference if we use an HDMI 1.4 with the Q10 Pro and don't have error problem for decoded the HD Audio ????
Actualy even if i set correctly the setting:

HDMI: RAW
SPDIF: Close
HBR Output: 7.1

And have setting also Kodi with passtrough with AC3 and DTS output capability, have some problem to have the True-HD 7.1, Master HD 7.1 and Dolby Atmos.

So can everyone or Futeko can explain that way for me and everyone who have already TV and Receiver in 1.4 HDMI. ??? THANKS

Hi!, I have the same problem. My receiver is Yamaha rx-v775 (firmware version: 1.70  lastest version)

Native HiMedia player. Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD MA mkv movie files:

HDMI Output = RAW    HBR Output = RAW7.1   >> no sound
HDMI Output = RAW    HBR Output = RAW5.1   >> only DD/DTS core sound
HDMI Output = Auto    HBR Output = Auto         >> no sound

I try to swap few HDMI cables but still the same result.

My Setup: HiMedia Q10 Pro > HDMI > Yamaha rx-v775 (5.1 speaker) > HDMI > Optoma Projector hd33

My HiMedia Q10 Pro player kernel and firmware information as below:
Q10 Pro Kernel version: 3.18.24
Q10 Pro Firmware version: HMD-1.0.1 2016-03-22.170326

TV Panasonic Viera VT5O
Receiver Yamaha YSP-2200

Test Audio directly by Media Center with a USB Key and play with Himedia Wrapper 3.6
HDMI: Auto
SPDIF: Close
HBR Output: Auto

1. H.264 1080p/23.976 (in MKV) Picture, no sound
2. H.264 1080p/24.000 (in MKV) Picture no sound
10. VC-1 1080p/23.976 (in MKV w/TrueHD 5.1 audio)   Picture but no sound
11. VC-1 1080i/29.970 (in MKV w/DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio) Picture and sound but only in DTS Core and notice that work only when i swith off/on the receiver when the Q10 Pro is playing the file. At this time decoded the sound ?

If it is not a problem with 1.4 HDMI cable why with the old one Q10 4K we don't have the same problem
There is a real mistake about capability from receiver with the new Q10 Pro. Firmware update ??

I'm using native HiMedia player. And I tried all the combination of setting below when playing HD Audio (Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD MA) mkv movie files:

HDMI Output = RAW    HBR Output = RAW7.1   >> no sound
HDMI Output = RAW    HBR Output = RAW5.1   >> only DD/DTS core sound
HDMI Output = Auto    HBR Output = Auto         >> no sound

This is one of the sample file I use to test https://www.sendspace.com/file/z03few.

I try to swap few HDMI cables but still the same result.

My Setup: HiMedia Q10 Pro > HDMI > Denon AVR3311CI (5.1 speaker) > HDMI > Panasonic Plasma ST60

My HiMedia Q10 Pro player kernel and firmware information as below:
Q10 Pro Kernel version: 3.18.24
Q10 Pro Firmware version: HMD-1.0.1 2016-03-22.170326

Thanks.

I would make sure if you have issues,  to always make sure your stereo firmware is up to date.
Jist because your stereo works with other media players or previous himedia is not a good reason not to update..
Expecially since this new player has a totally new hdmi chipset(hdmi 2.0a)as compared to older model with hdmi 1.4.

I found that most firmware updates for stereos fix hdmi compatibility issues just because of this..

Just a suggestion,  and good starting point...

 My Setup: HiMedia Q10 Pro > HDMI > Yamaha RX-V1900) > HDMI > TCL 4k 50E5800

same problem with rjongks

HDMI Output = RAW    HBR Output = RAW7.1   >> no sound
HDMI Output = RAW    HBR Output = RAW5.1   >> only DD/DTS core sound
HDMI Output = Auto    HBR Output = Auto         >> no sound

How to fix this problem ???

Hello Futeko and all,

After severals tests at once i can say you my point:

Panasonic VT50 Plasma Neo
Yamaha Sound Bar YSP-2200
Q10 Pro

Just one thing. With my old Q10 4K, everything with Kodi or directly by "Media Center", and passthrough works fine and all HD Audio OK
DTS-HD Master audio 5.1/7.1, True-HD 5.1/7.1 and Also Atmos 7.1

Today with the new Q10 Pro with:
HDMI: Raw
SPDIF: Close
HBR output: RAW 7.1

If i use exactly my configuration as before without touching anything about cables we have:

DTS-HD Master 5.1/7.1 NO Audio
True-HD 5.1/7.1 NO Audio
Atmos: NO Audio
Only AC3 5.1/2.0... OK

Testing with samples and also with movies with differents HD Audio

Now with an adaptator like https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00DL48KVI/ref=pe_386181_130944251_TE_dp_1

DTS-HD Master 5.1/7.1 Only in DTS-Core 5.1
True-HD 5.1/7.1 NO Audio NOTHING
Atmos: NO Audio NOTHING
Only AC3 5.1/2.0... OK

SO i don't know but more people like me as problem with our receiver and i think with 1.4a HDMI cable.

Did Himedia have testing more and more receivers and made capatibilty with lot of people who have the same devices. Thanks for your support.  :)
