« on: October 25, 2016, 04:41:58 AM »
How do i set up the Q5 to play movies from my computer? The box does not see my computer? Its connected via lan cable to my router. My blu-ray player can play movies from my shared drive but Q5 does not see anything?

I moved this thread to Q5/Q10 Pro because I presume that is the box you have if you're a new user.

How are you sharing the movies on your network (Samba/Windows share, NFS, uPnP/DLNA)?

Do you want to use Kodi?

Presuming that you do want to use Kodi (better media browsing interface) then this guide is a good start: http://kodi.wiki/view/Quick_start_guide

Section 2 onwards.

The simplest "Home group" option isn't working for me at all. The SMB option works partially, wheres the Q10 Pro is unable to find any computers on the network neighter with LAN->Seacch nor within KODI->SMB Source. So I had to add every simple shared folder data manually in KODI. Wery odd  and unconfortable way. I've allready described the problem in a seperate thread, but -tho' many didn't report this failure- it seams i'm not alone with the issue...
Still calming myself, that's just some network setting related error on the Windows PC side, but I have done and tried dozen of settings variations, even with my firewall, but still can't find the solution... If any would have an idea that works to fix this, would be superb....

Is it direct connected via lan or through router?
I am connected through router and is working well.
Network and sharing center-pass off, discovery on
Folder option -share premission-everyone fullcontrol
Folder option-security-everyone full control

Have tried the same and with other setting as well. Excpept that I just set "Read" permission on my shared folders (many have advised this as weel, and many other reported as working). But I don't think that would make any difference. Tha case is, that while auto searching/scanning for source (describe above), but MC and KODI was unable to find even my computer (name or ip adress). And I connect wia LAN with a rouer and both device with cable. So theres some strange reason/setting in the background that doesn't make for the Q10 Pro possible to detect and see my computer on the LAN by itself. Stranger, that with manually give every deteals of my PC and the folders it is just able to open and play the specified shared folders and contents...
