HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / Firmware 2.0.1 with SPMC
« on: March 07, 2017, 08:54:34 PM »
Has someone ever tried using SPMC on an HiMedia Q5 pro running Android 7 version 2.0.1? And also using the own Kodi/SPMC mediaplayer? (Wrapper is buggy in 2.0.1 when you synchronise subs)
Does it work fluently with 4K and 1080P movies?

tnx
Gert

In the quest to the best 4K performance did I install Android 7 together with Kodi 17RC4.

In Android 7, I can enjoy "real" 4K picture, but it constantly stutters. When I set-up the wrapper as player, the sound is good and the picture is fluent, stutter-free.

My 4K movies don't have subs, so I download them using Kodi.
It's not possible to find synchronised subs for my movies, thus I synchronise them by the synchroniser provided in the wrapper. The sub is right in time, but when you shift the sub 1ms, the picture immediatly starts to stutter.

Is there a solution for this?

Using Kodi player isn't a solution, because with a real 4K movie, the picture isn't watchable; constant stutters.

Thanks
Gert

HiMedia Q10 Pro, Q5 Pro / How do I get "real" 4K with Kodi player
« on: January 24, 2017, 08:28:45 PM »
On my Q5 pro runs Android 5.1 update 1.0.9 and Kodi 16.1. All movies on an ext. storage or on my NAS runs smootly.

Playing back a 4K movie with Kodi player, or with Wrapper gives a remarkable difference in sharpness. It seems Kodi gives a 1080P picture, while the Wrapper gives the real 4K.

I really like to watch my movie using the Kodi player, because the subtitle sync possibilities and the downsampeling feature of DDTrueHD7.1 soundtracks. My old receiver only supports 5.1.

Kodi knows it's 4K, because it's indicated in its "taskbar" .

Do I have to upgrade to Android 7, or Kodi 17, or both to reach my targets?

tnx
Gert

Playback the movies stored on my NAS gives an awesome fluent picture. Both played back in Kodi or with the wrapper.

For playing back streams and recordings of my VU+DUO2 satellite receiver, I use the VU+ addon of Kodi.
Both with playing back recorded pictures and live streams, you sometimes see an annoying stuttering picture; a kind of frame dropping. Very intermittently.

Since I'm using the beta 1 of Kodi 17, it's lots better, but sometimes the stuttering comes back.

Network is OK, other mediaplayers don't have the issue.

What could be wrong.

HDMI settings:
1080i50
RGB10bit

tnx
Gert
